Chapter 17

It was close to midnight when Scott decided he had read enough. His head was throbbing and he could feel the blood vessels around his temples expanding when he shut his eyes tightly. The excruciating pain in his heart was making it hard for him to breathe. He pressed the button to eject the disk from the laptop.

He drove for hours just to cool off and think things out before deciding to head home. On his way, he drove by Jenna’s house. The muscles in his heart twitched when he noticed the light in the living room was still on. He kept driving and the muscles kept twitching until they constricted his breathing rhythm. He braked.
