Chapter Three

I use my own magic to hide my wings and horns to keep people from freaking out over the fact that I'm a demon. Argus circles around me as he chases a butterfly just like a dog. I also use magic to hide his horns, scales, and tail, so people don't flip out. We reach the city's border.

"Let's look for a place to stay," I said.

"Rawr!" he roars with a happy tone.

We head straight to the center of the city, where the majority of the stuff is located. We look around and hear a tone of cheering. I see a crowd and join to see what's going on. Argus follows.

"I'm the greatest adventurer of the land!" shouts a man in outdated, shiny armor.

He points his shiny sword towards the sky.

"Watch out, World! No matter what kind of monster you bring to me, I'll defeat them all!" he shouts with a ton of hubris.

Argus and I make a disgusted face. I purposely fake a few coughs to grab the crowd's attention.

"Oh, sorry. Something got caught in my throat," I lie.

"Hey, girl. Wanna go out with me, you cutie?" he asks with a nasty love face.

"Hell no! Why would I go out with an old man like you, you creep!" I shout out of disgust.

The people just stand by and watch. Argus starts roaring to cheer me on. I smile at Argus.

"C'mon girl! I'm the strongest adventurer in town," he tries to persuade me.

"If you're the best in town, then that would mean that all of them are all weaklings. I bet I can destroy your sword with my eyes closed," I taunt him.

"I love aggressive chicks like you. I'll happily make you a party member and my wife," he says in a tone that I dislike.

He charges straight at me and gropes one of my breasts. Argus growls.

"Die in hell, you bastard!" I shout with a dark tone. "You're not even worth my time!"

I grab his hand and crush it into smithereens.

"By the time I'm done with you, there will be nothing left. Scumbags like you deserve to die in the most gruesome ways possible," I said.

I use my magic to light him on fire. The black flames grow and engulf his entire body along with his armor. Argus claps happily. I turn towards him.

"If you or your buddies ever mess with me, the outcome will be even worse than now," I say. "By the way, those flames aren't going to kill you. Plus the flames won't go out unless you dump some of the purest holy water out there. Good luck, Ultimate Adventurer."

I head straight to the closest apartment building. I walk towards the front desk with Argus.

"I'm wondering if you got room for the two of us," I say.

The employee has a worried face.

"Sorry, but we can't lend a room over to the two of you. There's this high-leveled dungeon that opened up in a room not too long ago. It's too dangerous for anyone to sleep here," she says. "We're waiting for some adventurers to come and take care of it. Sorry for the inconvenience."

"I could take care of it if you want," I suggest.

"Sorry, but we're waiting for specific adventurers that we hired. They're supposed to be the best party out of all," the employee says.

That's when I just remember that man with weak armor. My face twitches and I return to my "cool" phase.

"What if I accidentally kicked the ass of one of those adventurers that you hired?" I ask.

"Do you have any proof that you've beaten the best of the best?" asks the employee.

"If you step outside, you could hear him screaming from all of the pain he's in," I said. "You could do it right now if you want."

"Guess I'll show you the way. Don't blame me if you die from the dungeon," the employee says and guides Argus and me to the entrance of the dungeon.

"Let's head in, Argus," I said.

"Are you going to head in with barely a party and absolutely no equipment?" the employee asks with a concerned tone.

"Don't worry about us. We're a lot stronger than you think we are," I said.

"Rawr!" Argus says in response.

Both of us walk straight through the entrance of the dungeon without looking back. On the other side is a very bizarre place. This place is like a maze. There are stairs above us and in front of us. There are also two gargoyle statues in front of the stairs. Everything in this dungeon is lifeless and is made out of stone. Argus heads straight towards the gargoyles and knocks their heads off. The statues start to give off an eerie aura.

"Argus! Get away from there!" I shout.

A stone wall destroys the wall before us and the one to our right falls apart to reveal a giant, stone bull. The eyes are made out of emeralds and the nose ring and the rings around the horns are golden. Dust comes out of its nostrils as if huffs. I jump right in front of the bull and use my magic to summon five dark swords. All five of them bounce off of the bull's skin and create cracks on the stone floor.

"Don't tell me magic does not work on this stupid thing!" I yell.

The bull charges straight at me. Argus jumps onto the bull's back and starts chomping on its head.

"Grr!" Argus growls.

"Argus, don't bite on it. It's made out of pure stone," I point out and slap my own face. "It'll break your teeth if you keep this up."

He stops biting on the bull's head and looks at me. The bull suddenly throws him up into the air. Argus makes his feet land onto some stairs from above and uses them to jump back down and into the bull head first. This impact creates a large cloud of dust. I cover my mouth and nose using my hands. The dust disappears. All that's left is a giant pile of rocks from the bull.

"Argus!" I shout.

The rocks start to move on their own. Argus comes out of the pile with a big, fat, bloody scrape on his forehead. He gives me a cute smile.

"Thank goodness. You're alive. I don't want to face that stalker dragon if you die on me," I say out of relief.

He rushes straight towards me and I slap a small bandaid on his forehead. We head deeper into the endless dungeon. We fight a few enemies here and there, but they are not very strong compared to the bull we faced back at the entrance.

"Where's the ending to this maze?" I ask.

"You'll never be able to reach the ending," says a mysterious voice. "No one will ever be able to leave this place."

"Try me," I said with a smug tone.

"Rawr arf rawr," says Argus.

I look at Argus with a confused look. He gives me a warm smile. The floor starts to rumble violently. A green hydra with four heads comes out of the ground. The hydra seems very fierce and powerful. Argus starts to growl at it. I release my spell on both of us to reveal our true forms in hope that the opponent is powerful.

"Argus, let's defeat this thing," I say.

He nods.

"No one will ever get out of here alive!" the hydra roars.

"Yeah right," I say and create thousands of swords made out of both light and dark magic.

These swords are like no other. These have both light and dark magic that hasn't been combined properly, so they can destroy matter itself. I shoot all of them directly at the hydra and Argus follows with a kick straight at the face. The hydra screams from the pain it's in. A bunch of holes has been punctured into the hydra's flesh. The dragon collapses from losing too much blood.

"What's the name of the ones who defeated me?" the hydra asks.

"Shush. You're dead, so you have to stay quiet," I say.

"But I'm not dead yet!" he shouts.

Argus starts to gather stones around the hydra's heads.

"Rest in peace, you foolish hydra," I say like he's dead.

Argus bows his head and starts to pray. Afterward, he adds a few more stones.

"I've never met humans that are this rude!" it says.

"We're not humans," I say and deal the finishing blow using my dark magic.

The hydra stops breathing. It's now dead.

"That was awfully easy," I say. "I expected a lot more."

Argus comes over to me with a small pouch in his mouth. He drops it onto the floor, and I pick it up. I open it up and find some clip-on earrings with fire magic infused in them. I clip them onto Argus's ear. His eyes sparkle with joy, and he starts to hop around me.

"Let's get out of here," I said. "The dungeon is going to disappear soon."

We head out of the dungeon, and the entrance disappears behind us. I hide both of our forms before we re-enter the human realm.

"Thank you for getting rid of the dungeon," the employee says. "Now we'll be able to open this place up once more."

"No prob," I say.

"Here's your reward for taking care of it," says the employee.

She hands me a ton of cash.

"How long can I stay here using this cash?" I ask.

"About ten years," says the employee.

I return the cash to the employee's hands. Two people enter the apartment building.

"I'll have one room," I say.

"Of course," she says and hands me a room key.

"We're here for the dungeon," one of them says.

That voice sounds awfully familiar.

"Sorry, but someone else already took care of it," the employee says.

I slowly turn my head. It's Shoki and Fashion Disaster! Shoki spots me.

"Hey!" he shouts.

Both of us book it. We reach the door to the room and unlock the door. There's two grand beds, a royal stove and oven, and a fancy bathroom.

"I expected something way less fancy than this," I say.

Argus heads straight to one of the beds and starts jumping on it like an animal.

"Seems like this place will be our place will be our home for now," I say with a smile.
