CHAPTER#7: AT ORPHANAGE- 6:52 AM (NEXT DAY):
Scattering of glass heard throughout the orphanage as miss.lila yelled at catriel and was the one who had slam the glass near catriel bare feet. Miss. lila grab catriel arms tightly making catriel yelp in pain ad drag her to where the juice and glass was and make her feet come above the glass. Some shards of glass even dig in catriel's feet but she kept quiet with her head down. As miss. lila continues, "Listen!, Clean this up and no food for you and your damn brother when he back for today and tomorrow!" miss. lila yelled at catriel with her tone full of venom and walks away angrily while mumbling , "Idiots, left their mistakes for us to take care." Blood was staining the ground beneath Catriel's bare feet.
Once miss. lila was gone. Catriel looks up with her face emotionless. She watches as the children around her age, 14 and 13 or below 12 were playing. It's always her or scarlet.
Catriel didn't think much as she pick the things she needed to clean and starts cleaning the juice, she had made and somehow miss.lila didn't like it and throw it as a punsihment.
Just then, she heard the kids screaming and running inside. She looks up and find that it's start raining outside.
"Jeez, why the rain suddenly?" one of the kid, girl, in orphange, Kalsi said.
"Ask the Gods above Kalsi. What can I say?" replied another girl, Loi.
"Aish.." Kalsi rolled her eyes at loi and her stops at her elder sister (catriel) who ignore them and kept to her business, which was cleaning the mess, miss.lila had made.
"Well, well, well. Look loi, if it isn't our big sister.. catriel?" loi looks up at catriel and smirks side by side kalsi.
"It sure is..kal." Catriel sigh not looking at them as she knows what's next.
Both girls walks to catriel while she kept herself busy.
loi and kalsi stops near the kneeling catriel.
"Sister.catriel." loi called with authority.
Catriel sigh and looks up at the two with emotionless face.
"Yes?" she asked.
"Can't you even do one thing right?" kalsi said annoyed.
Catriel rolled her eyes and turns back to do her work.
"Are you ignoring us!?" Kalsi yelled and grab catriel arm making her cut her hand by a broken piece of glass. Catriel hiss in pain as kalsi eyes widen while loi gasped.
"Kalsi! if miss.lila knows about it. She would lock us in the punishment room!" kalsi nods and both run away leaving catriel holding her right bleeding hand.
Tears fall on the wooden floor mixing with the 'dark red' blood.
Catriel sits on her knees while her left hand holding her right bleeding wrist, placed on her lap with head down and her black hairs shielding her face only showing her little bit of jawline as tears roll down from it and falls on ground.
No sound, no nothing comes out of her.
While on the outside. Iris makes us way through the rain towards the orphange door.
Just as she about to knocks. Her eyes fell on the shadow of a girl sitting on ground. Iris with frowned eyebrows makes her way to the window besides the door and her eyes widen slightly as she looks at the broken figure of the girl sitting on ground.
Wind blew those black strands perfectly and Iris realized it was catriel. She hurriedly opened the door of orphanage and runs towards catriel and looks around at the broken glass and juice mix with blood and tears.
But she didn't think much of it and kneels on ground. She grab catriel right hand in her hands with worried gaze and looks up at catriel to find no change in her broken posture. Iris sigh and focus on wrapping her black handkerchief around catriel's bleeding hand.
"Who are you!? and how did you get in here!?" Iris looks back to find it's miss.lila.
Miss.lila eyes widen as she recognized iris.
"Oh! it's you. How can I help you-" Iris cut miss.lila off as she made catriel stand with one arm around her shoulders other holding her bleeding arm but her glaring eyes never leave miss.lila.
"I am here because I wanted to adopt." Miss.lila eyes shine from excitement.
"Ofcouse! follow me-"
"Catriel." Both miss.lila and catriel looks at Iris with wide eyes but Iris remains unfazed.
"I am here to adopt Catriel." She looks at catriel and smiles.
"If only, you are okay with it." Catriel gives Iris a small smile and nods.
Iris nods at catriel and turns back to miss.lila.
"So?" She raised an eyebrow at miss.lila who comes back to earth and fakes a very obvious fake smile.
"Of couse! follow me please!" Iris nods and looks at catriel once again. After helping her sit on a counch. Iris looks at catriel.
"You wait here. I'll be back in a few minutes and then we will go to hospital." Catriel nods as she watches Iris goes but before she could leave Catriel stops her.
"Wait!" Iris turns to her with an eyebrow raised.
"mhm..?"
"I-" Catriel hesitated but after getting a warm smile from Iris and a clue to carry on. Catriel release a deep breath and continues.
"I can't leave my brother here, all alone with miss.lila." Iris nods. The smile never leaving her face.
"Then I will adopt him too."
Catriel smiles wider as she bows her head slightly showing gratitude.
Iris nods and follow miss.lila inside her office.
Catriel smiles but then her attention was taken by the patter of rain drops on the window frame.
Catriel slowly with bare feet bleeding feets stand and makes her way towards the window.
She opens it with her good hand while her right hand pressed to her chest.
She raised her left hand outside the window letting the water drops fall on them.
Catriel closed her eyes as a sobby smile cross her face.
Maybe, maybe everything will be okay now that they are out of this hell hole.
But, what catriel didn't know was...
This was the start of the hell hole.
