"My queen is worthy of her title." Tyrell said as she stood between Yuna and Surell. "I do not wish to fight you. Withdraw and you will be allowed to leave unharmed."
"Oh, I could say the same." Surell said. "Allow me to kill the human and you will be allowed to remain as my servant once I am queen. I may even grant you the honor of licking my boots."
Tyrell was angered by Surell's last comment and moved to attack her. She charged at full speed holding nothing back. Yuna could not follow her movements, it appeared that Tyrell vanished before her eyes. A split second after Surell vanished as well.
The two demonesses were once rivals having been born to powerful fathers. Tyrell's father was the former demon lord, but Surell's father was his top military commander, his mightiest warrior. Since their fathers shared such a strong bond, the two girls grew up knowing one another. That is until Joe killed his father. That action caused Surell's father to leave the court as well as everyone else. They were fearful of Joe's power, that he would destroy them as he did his father.
This separated the two demonesses and caused Surell to envy life back in the royal court. She trained hard hoping to take her rightful place one day at the head of demon society. She felt that was her birthright. When she learned of the human queen, she knew that this was her chance. If she could claim the queen's position, she would rule demon kind, and everything she ever wanted would be hers.
Yuna could hear the clashes of the two demonesses fighting. Their movements beyond her ability. Elvin watched intently, she could somewhat follow their movements. "Things are not looking good, Yuna." Elvin said. "We should think about running, Tyrell does not seem to be holding her own."
Yuna paused unsure of what she should do. To retreat would show weakness and cause even more demons to come after her. She did not understand much of demon culture, but she had put together their system; that 'might makes right'. Right now, most demons were cautious because she was unknown. If she retreated, she would be considered weak and easy prey. "We cannot run." Yuna said reluctantly. "Like it or not I am the demon queen now, if I run here, what kind of message would that send?"
"One that you want to live!" Elvin shouted.
Their conversation was cut short with an injured Tyrell landing on the ground in front of them. She was covered in cuts and bruises and her clothes were in tatters. Surell appeared again a few feet away. Her appearance was mostly unchanged aside from one cut upon her cheek. "Pathetic, Tyrell. I expected more from the demon lord's daughter. What have you been doing all this time? Living comfortably in your brother's shadow? Have you rested on your laurels? Have you not worked hard to improve yourself as I have?" Surell paused to allow Tyrell time to answer.
Tyrell did not really know how to respond. The truth was that she had not been training since Joe took the throne. Against his overwhelming power she could not see a point, he was on a level that no one could ever dream of reaching.
"Ha!" Surell started talking again when Tyrell did not answer. "I guess your life has been so easy now that big brother came back and took charge. My life has been hell. My father, who used to lead the armies, was saddened by the loss of his friend. He has been worthless! I have had to do everything myself! Train, teach, feed myself. Everything!" Surell was getting visibly angrier. "I mean, what kind of demon loses his will like that? My father is a pathetic waste of flesh. All because he saw your brothers might. Well I don't care about his might. I will be his queen and I will rule this kingdom with an iron fist. Any spineless demons, like my father, will be executed and the human filth will be wiped from this world."
Tyrell managed to get back on her feet. "You done talking?" She said as she wiped blood from her mouth. "My life hasn't been that easy. My brother killed our father in front of my eyes. Then he has the nerve to want me to be his friend. I will never forgive him, but I will always be his faithful servant. That is the kind of thing I have dealt with. So, don't go thinking my life is all happy and wonderful."
"So why don't you help me Tyrell." Surell asked. "Let me kill the queen and take her place. We can then work together to get rid of your brother and my rule will be absolute."
"As I said, I am his faithful servant." Tyrell answered. "My honor is my life, and my honor is my service to my lord. I thought your father would have taught you such a lesson, but I see he failed. It wasn't that your father lost his will, he lost his honor. His duty was to protect and defend his lord, his friend. When he failed, he died too. If I fail to protect my lord and his lady, I will suffer the same fate as your father. You called him spineless for having honor, I call you heartless for not seeing his pain."
"We are demons!" Surell yelled. "Why worry about honor!? We live for nearly forever, and have immense power. Why could we restrict ourselves with the stupid notion of honor? Does your brother believe in these silly ideals of yours as well?"
"The lord has even crazier notions." Tyrell said. "My honor demands I help him achieve those goals. Your goals, and his, are in complete odds with one another. So I shall stop you, not only for my queen's sake, but for my lord's as well."
"Big words from someone so broken." Surell said with a wicked grin. Vines then erupted from the ground and constricted around her. Elvin was using her magic to try and give Tyrell an advantage. "What's this? You want to die as well, elf?" Surell said laughing. "I was going to allow you to stay alive as my pet. Now I think I will just serve your head to my new husband as a wedding present."
Tyrell seized the opportunity and attacked while Surell was distracted by Elvin. She punched her with all her might square in the jaw. The force of the attack ripped Surell from Elven's vines and slammed her into the wall on the other side of the courtyard. The wall collapsed on her and she was buried beneath the rumble.
"You did it, Tyrell!" Yuna cheered. Just then Surell erupted from the rumble and shot an ice lance that pierced Tyrells chest. Yuna watched as Tyrell fell before her, falling unconscious in her own pool of blood.
