The vampire renegades

Robert's POV

Being a Vampire Renegade is hard. We have no queen in our ranks thus our survival is not like those of other vampires. We need to constantly feed on blood to survive and on top of that most of our vampiric gifts have been stripped from us like how I could use fire magic when I was still under the reign of Queen Lilian Bloodbond, I also had some control over animals but now I am not able to do any of those. I tried once to convince our former queen's daughter Trina to take over the throne of her mother but she refused. I guess like mother like daughter.

Although I believe Queen Lilian was the one at fault for our declining superiority as the vampire species I too was to blame. I could not accept the fact that our ruthless leader, the most powerful being in the Demon world would give up her claim to the throne for love. I saw this as a disgrace and I denounced her as my queen. Every vampire felt similarly and thus did the same. This act of denouncing her as our queen was the worst thing we could ever do. We did not know how vital it was to have a queen.

Suddenly every vampire was weak to the sun feeling excruciating pain from it, The urge to drink blood became part of our nature. This urge was incredibly hard to control. Although our senses became sharper than ever, Our magic was nowhere to be seen. The bond that we broke really had dire consequences. Right now most of the vampires in the demon realm are living in isolation hiding themselves from the demon realm as a whole since they are the target of persecution. The current Demon King has a deeply rooted hatred for vampires and the reason why has not been found out. I assume it's because he fears that the vampires are too powerful and can topple the power of the country at any time. Well sorry to disappoint him, as we are nowhere near being as powerful as we initially were.

Blood has become a requirement for sustaining our life thus we have taken on animal keeping as our source of feed. Vampires need blood at least twice a week thus we are surviving with that.

A new threat has been spoken of in the demon territory. A beast that is constantly changing its form. It is said that the beast hunts at night and devours anything in its sight. It also has the ability to attract animals to itself. To prevent this beast from finding and devouring our animals we are planning on hunting it down first.

"We might not have our black magic and vampiric gifts but we still have our vampiric abilities. Let us put an end to this vile beast that is terrorising our city"

"Yeah!!! Will protect our children from this monster."

Well looks like people are riled up. The morale is high now we can attack it to protect our loved ones. Many of the vampires that are joining this raid are here to protect their children. Becoming a vampire has many drawbacks but this one affects us very much. This is that you can only have one child in your whole lifetime that is the biggest catch so children are all the more special to us.

We made smaller groups and split roles between ourselves as they say in war preparation is everything. There was a team assigned to every part of the plan. The plan was simple We would send a scouting team to locate the monster. The decoy team would then provoke the monster sending it our from the hidden vampire village towards a place where the rest of us will be lying in wait to ambush it. There was an evacuation team ready at a moments notice to evacuate the denizens of the village if we fail.

The ambush was strategically planned so that we get to attack it on its sides with rapid attacks before it could attack any of us this was the best way since will be maximizing on our speed while avoiding any fatal blows. The goal is to attack it continuously at its vital organs so that it can be easily defeated. This plan might seem cowardly to others but I don't care. My people's lives matter the most to me so if the only way to reduce the casualties is by using cowardly tactics so be it. At the end of the day, all that matters is that we defeat that monster with the least number of casualties.

We waited for a few hours before any news of the monster was relayed to us. I almost thought that the monster was gone, but that was not the case. Looks like it took a while for the monster to come out of hiding or maybe the scouting team had a hard time locating it but I doubt the latter was what actually what since they have vampiric speed on their side.

The decoy team was now within the line of sight. This means that the monster was right behind them. As the decoy team got closer and closer we came to realise that their numbers were slowly reducing. The only thing seen was the silhouette of an unknown thing. It was the monster. It looks like we underestimated it. I thought of using a place with a lot of vegetation cover so as to hinder its manoeuvrability but it looks like on top of its speed it also had top notch agility. What kind of a beast was this? Were we even going to win?

The beast was now at the ambush spot. Its massive frame was abundantly clear, and the claws and teeth were all drenched in blood I assume that it was from its fallen prey. The moonlight shone on its red fur clearly enhancing its beauty. Although it was a beast, it was still so beautiful. What magnificent creature was this that I had never laid eyes on?

The beast just stood there waiting for us to attack. It was like it was taunting us telling us that even if we tried we could never take it down. Everybody's heart was gripped with fear and nobody dared to attack it. After a few seconds of just staring at the creature, a few people calmed themselves gripped their weapons and attacked the creature. Nobody that tried attacking it even got close to doing any damage. The beast took them out in an instant. What insane speeds it had. It then looked at all that remained and off it went in the opposite direction.

Wait it was heading straight for the village. What were we to do? I regained my composure and tried to formulate a plan of action that could at least slow it down. Unfortunately, I was drawing a blank. I couldn't seem to come up with a plausible plan. The beast was just too powerful. looking around I noticed that the beast attacked the people in the most none fatal of ways. It was like it was avoiding unnecessary slaughter. This was a sign of its intelligence thus meaning that it could be reasoned with.

It was nearly Daybreak, the sun was about to rise so we all needed to go back to the village to hide and most importantly stop the beast from harming the villagers. Most of the knocked out vampires had already recovered. Those who hadn't we're carried back. We all ran to the village only to find a naked crimson-haired lady at our doorstep. The beast was nowhere to be seen.
