The irregular

Melissa's POV

The chance to become an official magic instructor is upon me. After years of working as the Sage's assistant, I finally get to teach his I mean my class. I also get to oversee the entrance examinations. I am so excited, let us see what this year's crop looks like.

The amount of students coming in is a lot. I am still nervous about being the overseer of the Academy entrance examination.

But it is so nice that my dreams are all about to come true. At first, going against my father was a scary decision on my part. I got disinherited because I did not follow the plan my father Count Watson Harlsehide had for me but now after being taken in by the sage I can gain the knowledge I have been seeking and teach others in the process.

"Hello everyone, I am Professor Melissa Harlsehide and I will be overseeing the examinations today. First for the directions.

The Nobility will go through the gate on the right while the common folk will go through the gate on the left. Once on the other side, you will get to take tests that will determine your stay in the academy. Professor Edward will conduct the combat test for both the commoners and nobles. I will be conducting tests on the other hand for magic. I will also be conducting the royalty evaluation. For the magic part, both Nobility and commoners will be accepted if they show an aptitude for it. In case of failure for commoners, they will be sent back home and can come back to take the tests next year while for nobles they are allowed to retake the tests and if they fail two more times they are transferred to the fair nobility subdivision.

As we all go take our positions for the evaluations I wish you all good luck. Have faith in yourself and do your best. Thank you. "

After that short announcement, the children each walked through their respective gates for the registration. I decided to go watch the swordsmanship evaluation since the magic evaluation will take place after. This will also allow me to see for myself the knights in training we will have, plus I just wanted a bit of relaxation after the exhausting arrangements I had to make for the exam with only help from Mr Edward and no other professors.

I took my seat in the duelling dome where all the duels take place in.

"Attention!!!! Alright, I amgoing to give instructions on how this evaluation is going to take place."

The children all seemed to tense up after hearing his commanding voice.

"Usually, the evaluation is done by people facing against the professors but since we are short-staffed today and you are many we are going to do this in a different way. Now Everyone choose a partner."

After a few seconds of chaotic scrambling of the students, he then said with his authoritative tone

"Has everybody gotten a partner?... I said has Everybody gotten a partner."

"Yes..."

"You are supposed to say sir yes sir powerfully. Did no one of you here breakfast?"

"We did sir."

"Then why the low energy."

"Sorry, sir."

"Now as I was saying if everybody has a partner, I want you to go to the other side of the some and pick a weapon of your choice. Of course, they are not really real weapons they are training weapons. If anyone also feels like it they can use their fists. Has everyone gotten a weapon of their choice if so then I want you to face your partner and duel them. Now begin."

After a few minutes of everybody combating each other, a few people remained standing. Those were the victorious ones. Others seemed to have lost their energy. Mr Edward seemed to have witnessed every duel since he was going around explaining to the students where everyone was going wrong. I found it had to follow the multiple battles going on.

"Very good, I think we can work with this. Many of you have the potential. For those who still have the energy if you want higher scores you can come to attack me."

Many of the children were hesitant.

"There is no one willing to attack me?"

"I would like to go"

"Me too."

"Oh, I see there are two contenders. Then why don't you two team up then come attack me."

"I don't need my sister's help to attack you."

"Oh, your siblings...okay as you wish."

"I will not attack you for one minute straight so if you defeat me before then you win but after the minute is done I will attack you at full strength."

"I don't need a handicap"

"But you do anyway attack me right now."

"Oh, you are pretty fast, not bad."

"I am just getting warmed up"

The fight was insane I was able to follow but I never thought that a new student could move that first. After seeing the golden coloured hair I put two and two together. This must be the famous prodigy Prince Leon. Although prince Leon was good Mr Edward was far more experience. When the one minute elapsed prince Leon was sent flying. Next was the sister princess Ivy. I had never heard about her joining the combat side of the academy. I hear that her mother princess Diane wanted her to go to the fair nobility section. Well, considering she is one of the winners of the duels I believe she must be at least able to handle herself. When she took up her sword and fought with Mr Edward I could see that not only did she know how to use a sword she enjoyed it. I would say she is just much of a prodigy like her brother. While her brother's combat style was how do I say masculine, hers was just so feminine and elegant. It was like she was dancing with the swords. While she was good she was still defeated.

"You there" Mr Harold shouted pointing at a crimson-haired girl."Why do you not want to attack me? I believe you have the ability since you were the first one to finish the duel."

"I am just here because I have to be. I really don't believe I have to waste my time doing such petty things"

"Petty? You are quite the arrogant one."

"Well, whatever you say. I am sorry but I am not really here to make friends. If I come off as rude and arrogant that is all up to you "

"Wow, you are really something else. Even so, I would like you to duel with me."

"Hmmm...Okay Since the people around weren't actually that strong I would like to see how strong you truly are. It will be nice practice."

"Cocky aren't we. Okay I will give you a minute to..."

"I don't think that's a good idea on your part. It will be good for you if you fight me at your fullest or else it will be embarrassing for you."

"Little girl you've got quite the mouth on you so I will not spare you one bit."

"Okay let us go. I advise that if anyone wants to live please leave the arena"

After that conversation, a full-blown fight occurred. The speeds were insane I could actually not see anything. After 20 seconds in the girl emerged victorious. What kind of monster was she. She defeated one of the most powerful combatants so easily.

"I am sorry sir but I warned you. You are not bad it is just that I was stronger don't take it personally."

Everyone who witnessed the fight was left in both fear and awe."

After the conclusion of that battle, we all went to refuel before the ones aspiring to join the magic class come to take the evaluation.

The students aspiring for the magic class spot were few and most of them seemed to be nobles. Well, that was to be expected.

"Okay everyone I will be the one administering the magic evaluations. First, we will test your mana capacity and attributes then your magic abilities. All of you follow me."

We then walked to the room where the mana capacity and magic attributes were to be tested.

"Okay first we will queue up and each person will be tested one at a time."

Most of the students coming were ranging between 30,000-100,000 which was good since one needed at least 5000 to do any type of magic. There were a few whose magic was barely 5000 those, unfortunately, could not join. It comes to the turn of the crimson-haired girl. When we measured her mana capacity it showed a weird symbol which I did not understand. I noted it down with the aim of asking the sage for the advice. We moved to the magic attribute. Most of the students were single attributed. Some did not have magic attributes but magic potential. The outstanding were a few of high ranking nobles who were duo attributed. The ones who were really gifted attributes were Prince Leon and the Crimson haired girl I come to know was Rae. They both were quad mages.

"It is time to test your magic abilities."

Everybody went to the shooting range to show out their magic skills. Many peoples chanting was not that good but at least they could create magical phenomena. When it come to Rae's Turn there was no chanting just some sort of glowing circles that produce water wind and earth magic. I was terrified of that little girl. What kind of magic was that she was an irregular. It come the time to do the royal evaluation. The royal evaluation is pretty simple. A sword just has to be drawn. When the sword is drawn out of the hole it is in, it is proof that you are of royal birth. Leon pulled it and it come.out easily with a blue hue with a tint of gold. Many other people tried to pull it out and out if 20 only five were able. four of those were normal except for Rae the irregular who when she pulled it out it was engulfed in red mist. It had a little glow of blue and gold that were barely visible.
