A reunion through an adventure

Hina's POV

I have been living in the mansion for a few months now. Well I say living but I have been more of a live in experimental subject. M's Merle ... well, Miss Merle is a unique woman. She actually reminds me a lot of my deceased brother the only thing different about her is that she is more intense than he was. The day that she learned I am actually able to perform different types of spirit magic was the day that well...let's just leave it at that. Jace recently joined a knightly order that is suppose to be a branch of some royal guards. I say that but it just seems to be a bunch of people who really admire princess Rae.

That princess sure is loved by her people. Cara and Nova are both in the academy practising there magic. Although they live out there and I in here they always come to visit. We talk about how we are all progressing with our respective programs. All of them have great mentors and the village has a well structured support system.

Well I could also say I have a sort of mentor but no, I have a fanatic observer who constantly watches me trying to teach myself magic. Merle is not a bad. She is actually very kind but her level of enthusiasm can sometimes be annoying. In spite of this she does offer excellent advice.

I have trained my water magic both in solid and liquid states. I found out that I cannot create water out of thin air. Of course I can't that will be going against the law of conservation of mass.

But with my magic am able to manipulate water like it is a part of my body. For the manipulation to work it is necessary for body movement to occur.

I discovered this when I tried to manipulate water in a river. At first I just tried imagining the water freezing. Yes this worked but the layer of ice I formed was too weak that it was easily broken by the rivers currents. So I tried to strengthen the ice structure by making direct contact with the water. What happened next is that the ice was strengthen by far more than what I had expected. It become so hard that a person could walk on it. When I tried lifting my hand so as to move it away from the ice structure, a needle made of ice was formed in the direction I was moving my hand towards. Merle saw this an congratulated me. She then told me to try and manipulate the ice I had made into different forms through the use of the movement of my hands. When I did this, I found out I could make many different structures from my Ice. It was fun playing with the Ice. Merle then suggested that I try using it on liquid water and see if am also able to manipulate it without necessarily turning into Ice. I thawed out the Ice I had formed and tried manipulating the now liquid river water. This was not an easy task, controlling ice was easy since the ice was not moving thus didn't offer any resistance but controlling flowing water was hard. When i tried making the river water go towards my direction I found that I was not able to. Merle then suggested that instead of fighting the river currents I should try flowing with it. When I did this I was able to collect an amount of water from the river and hold it in midair. The water looked like a crystal snake. The wavy motion created by the water was a sight to behold. I was overjoyed with my achievements. I tried doing different things with the waters fluidity. At first I had a problem manipulating it spilling it every time I tried complex manipulations but now am getting better and better. I've practiced my water magic for a good certain amount of time now and am able to switch between solid states and liquid states. Merle requested for a duel between me and her so that she could see how good my magic was in combat. Initially I used my magic for basic things like transportation of water or creation of barrels of ice but Merle insisted that I should learn how to use my magic in combat so as to be able to protect myself in dangerous situation. So to do this she requested for that duel. I had never used my magic for fighting before so this was the first time I was going to. We went dip into a forest where I was so far away from the river.

"Why are we going so far away from the river."

"You have become too dependent on the water provided by the river so I wanted you to remember although water can not be created from thin air, It is all around us. Using your creativity I want you to obtain the water to fight in our duel with from your surrounding. Oh it looks like we are here. Now lets begin our duel."

We then took some few steps far away from each other and the duel began. Immediately after the duel began I found myself blown with a gust of wind which completely disoriented me. How did she do that. I thought that other people needed to chant to produce magic. Is she also like me, if she is why has she been holding out on. Before I could finish my thought a huge amount of earth flew straight to my face. I was now on the ground feeling a lot of pain from my laughable fall. This was no duel it was a one sided battle. Seeing that I could not do anything I tried manipulating the water in the plants around me but Merle was not giving me space to do anything. Feeling so angry and frustrated I tried manipulating anything I could feel, a huge amount of fire then come flying out of my hands injuring Merle seriously. I ran to the injured Merle after seeing what I had done but before I could do anything a huge monster with the head of a bull and the body of a hugely built man appeared. I had heard of monsters before but I had never seen one. I was frozen with fear not knowing what to do next. The monster slowly walked towards me dragging a big axe. I tried concentrating trying to manipulate the water in the air that was in the form of atmospheric moisture but all managed to make a thin layer of Ice that seemed to anger the beast. When the beast was only a few inches away readying it's axe for the kill it froze in place for a few seconds before it's head dropped from its body. A pool of blood was quickly formed from the blood oozing out of the headless body. When the body of the beast fell down with a big thud, the figure of a young human girl come into place. She had long crimson coloured hair with sapphire coloured eyes. Her skin was so fair and what a beautiful figure she had. Who was this girl and how could she take down such a huge monster easily? The mysterious girl had now ran towards Merle trying to tend to her wounds. I ran to Merle to see if I could offer any assistance. When our faces met I felt a little bit of nostalgia.

"Can you help her."

"I think I can. Let me try."

She then performed some sort of magic that cover the unconscious Merle with golden coloured circles. A blinding light then engulfed her and as soon as it dispersed it revealed a completely healed Merle with no wounds to be seen.

"Thank you for saving her I was worried about what I was going to do my name is Violet by the way."

"Oh I am..."

"Ahhh. What happened? Princess!!! What are you doing here?"
