George chanted a spell in the same strange language and runes began to appear. Charles looked frightened, but determined to go all the way to find out the truth. George then translated it: "In the beginning of time, the gods imbued all beings with light. The magicians were those born with the ability to use the light. The others, less fortunate, had to train to rise to the level of magicians. Charles opened his eyes wide and exclaimed: "This... this changes everything we know about the mages of life and death. It may end our absurd feud." His father sighed and said, "Wait until you hear the rest. He continued, "The first families of born mages began to specialise in certain abilities that gave them an invaluable position in society, which some, selfishly, took advantage of. The made-mages, feeling marginalised, rallied behind their leader Devorak and his wife Lucia, who were both from the largest and most respectable clans of made-mages but secretly led a movement called the Renaissance.
Charles, feeling nauseous, walked to the door but stopped, panting heavily: "Lies ....just lies...I can't...face it." His father looked at him with a haughty look that would have made anyone shrink and said, "Your mother has mothered you far too much. You wanted the truth, but you can't even be a man and face it."
Charles replied by releasing the blue light, a powerful technique that made the whole house shake to its core and his father winced in pain. Charles then said, "Perhaps it is because I am the better man that I can see the evil in all this. You, as our leader, should understand it even more." His father chuckled proudly and said, "Listen to the end and see for yourself. Charles released his father and nodded. George smiled and said, "I forgot how painful the blue light was. Then he continued reading:" After Devorak and Lucia experimented on themselves, using blood magic and soul shifting respectively, they changed along with everything that carried their DNA. Then the first generations of death and life mages arose. Devorak's side rose as the death mages, and Lucia's side as the life mages. Charles sighed as he said:" Blood Magic...a cursed death spell and Soul shifting magic .... a forbidden life spell." George nodded and continued.
They overthrew the born mages after stealing their light and transferring it to the families of the made mages who supported them. However, Devorak's ambition led him to enslave the Born Mages, who were left defenseless, while Lucia's guilt led her to develop more tender feelings for them.". They fell out and eventually started a war that lasted 50 years. In the end, Devorak was killed by his love, as he couldn't bring himself to kill her. But just before he died, he cast a spell on his bloodline and hers.
