Chapter 43

Rose's POV

"Now, let's get you dressed up." I was practically dragged like a ragged doll by my dad and I couldn't help but let out a whimper.

"Dad, I will be an obedient girl and wear the dress on one condition." I tried to make a negotiation since things have come to this point. My dad just simply looked me in the eyes, as if allowing me to state my deal.

"The reason why I'm running away is because I'm afraid I would look like a pufferfish on my coronation and make a fool out of myself by wearing the thirty-five layers of dress. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to walk properly and make a fool out of myself. So, as long as you convince my mom to wear only ten layers of clothes underneath, I will be obedient and wear the dress. What do you say?" I batted my eyelashes and tried to exaggerate as much as I could but I had to hurry because the yelling of my parents and Jade got louder and louder every second.

"Well, I guess that can be managed. I've seen the dress and I thought it was too puffy for anyone's liking." "Yay! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I will go and get dressed. You better convince my mom with that mind-link skill of yours!" I freed myself and jogged towards the fitting room where I met my mom and maids on the way.

"Alright, let's get dressed." "Honey, your dad said you would only wear ten layers but can we make it fifteen?" My mom gave me puppy eyes as I sat on the couch, waiting for others to get ready to dress me.

"Fifteen?! No way! Are you even my mother? I am gonna suffocate wearing that many dresses!" I glared at her and she gave me puppy eyes, batting her eyelashes. That might have worked on my dad no defo not me.

"Fourteen?" She bargained and I shook my head. "Thirteen?" "Nope. No way!"

"ROSALIND WREN TAYLOR! I AM THE BOSS HERE SO YOU DO AS I SAY OR ELSE-" Her loud voice resonated throughout the floor and I stood up to face her too.

"Or else? I remember I have my coronation in two hours. Won't I be the boss then? I demand that I wear ten layers inside or I am not wearing it." I challenged her. I might have been beaten to death by now but in a couple of hours, I would be the queen anyway. What am I worrying about?

My mom was fuming but she calmed down when my dad hugged her from behind, making me roll my eyes.

"Alright. I am getting dressed. And ten layers, it is." I said as I made everyone get out of the room except the maids who were to help me get dressed.

When I was done, I stood infront of the floor-length mirror and gawked at how pretty the dress was. The puffiness was to my liking and I could tell the fabric was an expensive one at how delicate and soft it felt on my skin.

It was a white, off-shoulder illusion dress, sparkling with beautiful shape of flowers and moons laid on it. The gown narrowed down to my waist, hugging my curves and it resembled wedding dresses of some sort but more elegant and majestic.

I was turning from side to side to take a better look at the stunning dress and admiring how pretty the image in the mirror looked. It was almost hard to believe the one reflected in the mirror was me.

When maids opened the door to let my parents in, my mom broke out crying, making me want to cry at the sight of her crying. My dad hugged her to calm her down and told me that I looked beautiful.

And that's when I noticed a tall man dressed in suit standing by the door with his mouth agape. Tyler's face was pretty emotionless except for the little twitching of his lips and the sparkle in his eyes.

"You look stunning, babe." He whispered as he walked towards me. I could hear the voice of my parents, Jade, Jack and the rest of the maids talk about how I looked like a goddess.

"Thank you." I smiled at Tyler who held my hand in his and lay a light peck on it. His hair was gelled up but some of his strands were sticking out, making him look hotter than he already was.

"You look hot." I absent-mindedly spoke out my thought, making Tyler chuckle and wink at me.

"We've only thirty minutes left. We better get going." Jack said looking at his watch, making me nervous and grip Tyler's hand tighter.

"I am so proud of you. Bless you, my darling." My mom said with a tear rolling down her eyes as she put on a long white cloak on my shoulder which complimented the dress I was wearing.

"Thank you, mom." I whispered and hugged her, trying my best to not cry and ruin the make-up.

'I know I can make it. I know that everything will go smoothly. Yes, I can definitely do it.'

I repeated the mantra in my head as we all walked towards the royal hall where the coronation would be held.

"Everything will be alright." Everyone patted my back and said encouraging words as I stood behind the gigantic door which led to the room where people were waiting for my coronation. Everyone except Tyler left to enter from the other side of the room and I nervously stood there with Tyler by my side.

"Don't worry. We will be with you throughout the ceremony." Our hands were intertwined and he squeezed it which calmed my nervousness.

I could hear the voice of my dad speaking at the other side of the room to get the ceremony started. And as I realized that the guards were getting ready to get the door open and Tyler leaving me to stand at the back got me nervous again. But after taking a deep breath and remembering the people who were looking up to me, I realized that I can't be a queen while being such a coward, getting scared of the people who were soon to be my responsibility to look after.

So, I held my head high, took another deep breath and walked along the long aisle, everyone's eyes on me as I walked towards the place where my father stood. And that's when I saw the throne behind my dad. I also noticed maids holding a magnificent crown and a scepter on golden trays.

With my long earrings dangling around and the long cloak of mine following the path I was walking on; I felt a new feeling of power surging through my veins. Layla was very excited at the very back of my mind with a powerful aura surrounding her with pride.
