"Jack, though I am disappointed with you, I do not want to see you die. If you walk out those doors and continue to trouble someone who has moved on, you will not walk back in this house again and I will be the one who has to bury you. Please save me from having to bury my child," said Dorothy.
Dorothy preferred that she would die before she had to bury her one child. There was still a chance for Jack to turn his life around and do better. He only needed to take his focus from Scarlet and not entertain any more women.
Jack could be a good businessman if he paid attention to the family business. Then later on in life, he might find the right woman for him.
"Mother, you are in a different position than I am. I do not want to lose her. All I think about is how I ruined what we had and now she is in the arms of another man. Scarlet and I understood each other because we were to inherit our family's business. I want her," Jack declared.
