The pitiful orphan

A stream of memories flooded her mind and Yu Ying realized that she was in a world that was different from her own. This place was also Earth with all seven continents and wonders of the world but the history of mankind was a bit different. Currently, she was in Huxia and not America. She now occupied the body of someone else.

Song Xia was the beloved daughter of international supermodel Shao Zhiruo a.k.a Gabrielle Favre and business mogul Song Mingyu. Just before her 9th birthday her parents took a business trip to France in order to merge her maternal grandfather's business into her father's company. Her father and his half-brother were good friends and business partners. Her paternal grandfather had stated in his will that the brothers were to have an equal amount of shares in the company when he had passed.

During the merger discussions they decided to travel from Huxia to France where the headquarters were located. Unfortunately the private plane containing her parent, grandparents and uncle crashed. They were no survivors and from that day Song Xia's life completely changed.

As if that much suffering wasn't enough, her uncle's wife hated her. She blamed Song Xia's parents for her husband's death and made an innocent child the target for her rage. After physically and verbally abusing her for about a year she gave up custody and sent her to an orphanage in B City .Li Dongmei claimed that she was too depressed to look after a child that wasn't her own and bribed a crooked judge to send Song Xia away.

Life at the orphanage wasn't great but it was better than the Song house where it felt like she was walking on eggshells. There she lived in constant fear of Li Dongmei and her daughter Song Jiao who constantly called her "murderer'','"bitch" or "daughter of a Murderers". The orphanage kids were sometimes mean, but she managed to ignore them. Song Xia believed that as long as she was quiet enough, invisible, others would not notice her.

For Song Xia the only affection she received after her parents' death was from the elderly matron, Fan Meixu. Although, overworked Fan Meixu always made time to talk with Song Xia.

The matron's son who had finished college managed fix Shao Zhiruo's old phone containing family photos and old messages between her parents. This was one of the few mementos she managed to take from the house; Li Dongmei only gave her half an hour to pack her bags besides clothes the only things that she managed to take were her mother's old phone, her dad's favorite sunglasses, a jade pendant that her grandmother had gifted her for her seventh birthday as well as family photo of them on holiday.

The most valuable thing that she had on her was her bank card for a savings account that her maternal grandmother opened for her. It contained about 50 000 yuan which might seem like hefty amount but was meager considering she was a billionaire's daughter .

When Song Xia was 12 years old Fan Meixu retired, and she was allocated to a foster family. Song Xia optimistically hoped that she might get the chance to once again experience the love of a family but sadly her hopes were crushed. Hence, she became more socially withdraw. Her foster mother who was a divorcee, did not care much about her foster children and was only concerned about the money she got from social grants for caring orphans.

Gao Hong was her foster mother's, Luo Jingfei's, only child and for the sake of keeping her daughter company and for extra money she decided to foster three orphaned girls between the ages 14-18. Gao Hong had an instantaneous dislike Song Xia and spitefully bullied her. The other 2 girls in the house followed herd mentality to make their own lives easier.

The terrible bullying translated to school as they all attended the same school. Song Xia became gloomy and depressed if nobody bothered her she never spoke to anyone. The teachers were quite concerned about Song Xia as she didn't have any friends. Eventually they gave up trying to talk to her because she had good grades and did not cause any disruptions in the school environment.

Song Xia's life changed one day after a sports day event in her first year of high school. The aunt of one of her classmates stopped her and explained that she would like to scout her to become a model. The agent's name was Shi Qi, and she stated that Song Xia's features and her current height of 174 cm was great for modelling especially since she was still growing.

Song Xia was initially hesitant but finally decided to try as she wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps. Over the course of a few months she gradually became comfortable with Shi Qi and became good friends with her niece, Jin Yu, who was her classmate she had never spoken to before. Jin Yu's father was a soldier who had died in combat, so she was familiar with Song Xia's pain and could empathize with her experience of being orphaned.

They both had serious personalities but gradually brought out each other's childish side and soon became inseparable.

Gao Hong had heard that Song Xia had signed a contract with '99 Scenes' a third tier modelling agency allowing her to appear in magazines and live a life of fame and popularity. This was unacceptable to Gao Hong. Who was Song Xia ?An orphan that nobody wanted .She should stay in the shadows were she belonged. She was only a stray that her mother picked off the streets .How dare she try and ride on her head .Gao Hong Hated that Song Xia was prettier than her and would become a model.

Seething in her jealousy Gao Hong pushed Song Xia onto incoming traffic. She just wanted to injure her as punishment and prevent her from becoming a model not kill her. Only after acting on her impulse did she realize that Song Xia could die so she left her bleeding on the road…
