Chapter 10 - The Clock Bridge

That was settled. Serefina and Bryan were walking and walking before they could reach the Time Tree.

And to add more information. The next day was Serefina's birthday. She was about turn 16.

Moreover Serefina was Cold. So very cold. All her body was shivering. She had forgot to were a coat before they left her house. How could she? Guess she was more involved in finding Grandma Hannah really quick.

But then warmth filled her body. She glanced at her shoulder. Bryan had given his coat to Serefina. Which made her blush. But...

"Aren't you cold?" Serefina asked. Well, Bryan had worn a sweater but seriously this cold could surpass any sweater.

"I am used to this, you know?" Bryan said.

"No, I don't," Serefina grumbled.

Bryan stopped in mid steps. He turned. "This is where I was born and stayed here my entire life. So believe me, I am used to this. And besides that coat looks better on you. And I'm not lieing."

Serefina cheeks burned again. Why was this happening every time? And Bryan had started walking again, so, she followed him.

They had reached the Time lake. That's what Serfina had guessed. And she was right. Only snow fell from the sky leaving the clouds to cover up the sun. The lake had solidified.

"Why is this called Time lake?" Serefina asked.

"Look closer inside," Bryan said. Which didn't make any sense.

Serefina glanced inside the frozen lake. There was something deep within. "A clock?"

"Yeah, it's been a long time since the clock stopped working. Which nearly seemed impossible. My mother's magic is too strong to rust like this in just a few years," Bryan explained. "Now where exactly is the bridge?"

"C'mon!" Bryan said, grabbing Serefina by her hand and they rushed towards the bridge.

They kept on walking and walking. But the end was nowhere to be seen.

"Hey Bryan?" Serefina broke the boring silent. "Answer me if you want okay?"

"Is Miss Gracy going ask something that will make my world upside down?" he asked.

"No. I mean it's just..." she trailed off.

"Never mind."

It was definitely not the time to ask this question. Maybe if Bryan and she could be more better friends. She might ask him. He'll have a little more faith in her then to answer.

"Time to Serefina!" Bryan was waving a hand in front of Serefina. "You see. There's something I am not supposed to tell you...so don't ask me anything about what I tell you accidentally, okay?"

Serefina was utterly confused. So, she nodded anyway.

"And one more thing," he said. "You on the other hand can ask me anything about me. Never hesitate to ask. Got it?" His stare was so intense that Serefina was not able to look away. So, she just nodded again.

They started walking again. The path in front of them looked endless with infinite possibilities. It was the time to see what the Time tree was. But there was someone lagging behind them who would do anything to stop them.

He scanned the entire lake followed by Serefina's gaze.

"There it is!" he shouted pointing to a wide bridge joining both the ends of the lake. Well, the end of the lake wasn't visible at all. It was going to take a while to reach to the other side.
