Chapter 7 | The new maid

Melissa didn't know the guard in the car was blowing the car horn for her to leave the way. She didn't know what a car was, nor what the sound coming from it was all about as she was absent minded staring at the beautiful palace admiring it beauty and wishing it was her home.

The guard frowned seeing the lady had turned deaf to the car horn, he turned of the car engine just then did Prince Charles attention came back to what's going on. He questioned his guard, "Why did you stop the car Max?."

"Am sorry my prince, but I don't know whom this lady is that's blocking our way into the palace," replied Max as he pressed the car horn again but Melissa still stood admiring the palace. Max opened his driver's seat door and came down while Prince Charles looked thru the front view widescreen of the car and looked sideways as well to see if they weren't set up by any attackers or assassins, seeing she was only the one there, he wondered where the guard stationed to guard the gate had gone too. He relaxed back on his seat and waited for Max to return.

Max was annoyed and he went to her and dragged her away from the entrance, yanking her by her hands and dragging her to the side startling her.

Melissa was so shocked and frightened that she looked up to meet his gaze as her scarf had fallen to her shoulder length revealing her beautiful face to him as she had almost lost her balance. The guard stared at her in surprise seeing how beautiful she looked, and he didn't want to keep the prince waiting his eyes subtly narrowed at her.

Just then did the previous guard returned with Sandra and Max immediately questioned them as he was prince Charles personal guard and driver.

"Why did you leave the gate and why is she blocking the entrance?."

"Am sorry, I went to call this maid," The other guard whom previously went in to call Sandra replied.

"Hmm. " Max narrowed his eyes at them and went back to the car to avoid keeping Prince Charles waiting.

Prince Charles stared at them thru the widescreen front view of the car, he didn't see the girl's face properly from where he sat in his car but he saw how Max went to her and dragged her away from the entrance. He wondered who she was and why she stood blocking their entrance, having.kept him waiting.

Max returned back to the car and entered the driver's seat to drive into the palace, he apologized, "Am sorry my Prince '

"It okay Max," Prince Charles replied as he kept his gaze focused on the girl to see whom she was as her scarf had fallen from her head resting on her shoulder. Her face was away from his view but her hands and legs were so white, even her neck, he continued to stare at her but then they drove into the palace.

Max came down and opened the car door for him, he wanted to ask Max to go call the girl over as he wanted to see her face properly. He hadn't seen a white human, she was fair in complexion and was shining in the hot sun like an albino, he couldn't help stop thinking about her, so he stopped and questioned Max, "Whom was that girl that blocked the entrance?."

"I don't know my prince," Max replied as he stood head bent lowered.

"I see.. Ask her to come into the palace, let me know what she want, as you know we will be having visitors today" Prince Charles told him.

"Okay my Prince." Max went back to the gate to call them as he didn't want to keep prince Charles waiting.

"Melissa!" Sandra screamed when the guard driving the prince's car drove into the palace.

"What are you doing here?," Sandra asked her new friend as they had just become friends.

Melissa smiled and blushed as the other guard already excused them and went back into the palace.

"You know visitors ain't allowed here, why did you come?," Sandra quickly asked as she was excited to see Melissa. She liked Melissa so much and was very happy to have her as her friend, even though Melissa had told her that her mother was against her having friends.

Sandra was also lightskinned in complexion but not as fair white as Melissa, but she was also fair but had a black coloured hair, while Melissa's hair was shining gold in the hot sun.

"Humn.." Before Melissa could respond to why she had come to the palace, the palace gate opened again and the guard whom had previously pushed her away from her admiring the beautiful palace came out and fear gripped her.

She went to hide behind Sandra's back but the guard rather spoked to the two of them.

"Why are you here?!," Max questioned them as he stepped out and Melissa knew the question was directed to her.

She blinked and stepped out from behind Sandra and looked downward, "Hmm, am looking for a job," She told him and Sandra stared at her in surprise as they both haven't discussed as to why she had come to see her.

"Melissa?!," Sandra called to her attention as she tried pinching Melissa by her side to keep shut.

"What?!" Melissa stared back at Sandra and the guard noticed Sandra was giving her friend sign to keep shut.

"Am looking for a job Sandra," Melissa told Sandra as she turned to stare at her friend whom was surprised at the news.

Max stared at them to avoid keeping the prince waiting as prince Charles had ordered him to call them into the palace, he told them,

"Follow me, Prince Charles wants to know why you are here and why you were blocking his entrance," Max said to them and opened the gates, going back into the palace.

Fear gripped Melisa as she heard prince, she quickly apologized, "Am sorry, I was only looking at the beautiful house," She said as she doesn't know how to speak good english as she never went to any school.

"Don't keep the prince waiting, follow me!" Max paused at the gate and ordered them. He opened the gate and went in while Melissa stared at her friend in confusion.

"Sandra!," she pleaded as her face turned pale.

"Don't worry, the prince is not a bad person let's go and see him, maybe he can help you get a job here in the palace," Sandra encouraged her friend as she held Melissa hand and they both went in.

Max looked backward thinking they were not coming in, or the girl has ran away as he looked up and saw Prince Charles still waiting for them to arrive while checking his wristwatch time, standing in front of the royal mansion which was a mighty two storey building.

Prince Charles looked up as he saw the gates opened again and he had wondered if the girl had gone as he had asked Max to go and call her into the palace, so he could atleast see what he previously saw properly.

His sister came out from the mansion just did the gates opened and the beauty stepped into the palace, she diverted his attention as he was trying to keep his focus on the girl whom looked downward using her scarf to cover her head as the sun rays was a bit much.

"Brother you are back," Princess Cassandra said as she looked at her brother, he quickly shifted his gaze to look at his sister side so she wouldn't catch him staring intently at someone and misunderstood everything.

"Yes I am," he smiled at her, "Are you going out?" he asked as he looked at her.

"Well yes, I will be back. Amanda is inside, I just want to do a few shopping before Princess Miranda arrives, I chatted with her and she said they have already arrived at the territorial borders and is on her way here," Princess Cassandra replied.

"Okay," Prince Charles replied as he quickly wanted to dismissed her. She turned to leave and saw their maid and another, she looked at them in disgust as she eyed the white girl who looked downward and she turned to face her brother again, whom smiled at her, she smiled back to him, "Brother incase Princess Miranda arrives before I return, please tell her I wouldn't waste much time," She said as she blew him a kiss with her hand and he nodded in response and she left, holding her horsetail that she held with one hand and hung on her shoulder.

Her personal driver opened her car door for her and she entered into the car while they drove out of the palace. Prince Charles heave a sigh of relief and stood watching his sister until she got into her car and left the palace then his attention came back to the maid and the white looking girl that stood before him.

He stared at them and spoked to them.

"Yes, who are you and what do you want in these palace?," Prince Charles asked and Melissa swallowed.

"Can't you speak?," He questioned her, hoping she would raise her head up so he could clearly stare at her face properly and see how beautiful she really looks.

Melissa greeted him how she saw her friend greeted him just now, "Good afternoon my prince," She mimic her friend, but her voice seemed to stir something in him, he swallowed and stared at her, and she continued,

"Am looking for a job, so I came here to see my friend if she can help me get a job here in the palace, I really need it as my mother is sick and cannot go out to work again for the two of us to feed" She told him, and he was so uncomfortable listening to her sweet voice.

He nodded and replied as he wanted to get away from there, "Fine, Max see to it that she gets a job here in this palace." Then he quickly turned and went back into the royal mansion, going upstairs to his room on the third floor to take a cool bath to calm himself and prepare for the arrival of his supposed fiancee.
