Chapter 19: The Betrayal

The journey to the Immortal Ascension Sect had been long and tiring, but finally, they had arrived at their destination. The sect was located on a mountain peak surrounded by a sea of clouds. The view was breathtaking, and the sect itself was impressive.

As they walked towards the entrance, they were greeted by a group of disciples who led them to the guest pavilion. There, they were met by the sect leader, an old man with a white beard who welcomed them warmly.

After exchanging pleasantries, the old man introduced them to the other elders of the sect. They were shown around the sect and were amazed by the advanced cultivation techniques they saw.

As they were about to leave, the old man called the overpowered male lead, Jax, aside for a private conversation. Jax was curious about what the old man wanted to discuss with him.

The old man looked at Jax with a solemn expression and said, "Jax, I have heard of your feats and accomplishments. I know you have come here to seek the ultimate cultivation technique that our sect possesses."

Jax nodded, "Yes, that is true. I have come to seek the ultimate cultivation technique."

The old man sighed and said, "I'm afraid I cannot give you what you seek. Our sect has decided to keep the ultimate cultivation technique a secret from outsiders. I hope you can understand."

Jax was disappointed but understood. He thanked the old man for his hospitality and prepared to leave.

As they were leaving the sect, they were ambushed by a group of masked men. Jax and his companions fought fiercely, but they were outnumbered. In the end, they were captured and brought before the masked men's leader.

The leader revealed himself to be a former disciple of the Immortal Ascension Sect who had been expelled for his evil deeds. He had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to take revenge on the sect.

He looked at Jax and said, "I know why you came here, and I can give you what you seek. In exchange, I want you to join me and help me destroy the Immortal Ascension Sect."

Jax was conflicted. He wanted the ultimate cultivation technique, but he didn't want to betray the sect. He looked at the leader and said, "I cannot betray the sect. I will not join you."

The leader laughed, "You fool! You could have had everything, but now you will have nothing."

He ordered his men to kill Jax and his companions.

Jax and his companions fought bravely, but they were outnumbered and outmatched. In the end, they were defeated. As Jax lay dying, he thought about his choices and wondered if he had made the right decision.

The chapter ends with Jax lying on the ground, barely conscious, wondering what his fate will be.
