Chapter 27

Waking up in a new environment felt strange at first. It was as if I woke up in a dream, seeing an unfamiliar ceiling and hearing actual sounds of people.

After I was reoriented with my surroundings, I got off the bed and walked out of the room.

"Morning, Beatrice." Gene yawned. He was wearing a shirt and shorts while holding a pillow.

I felt my heart skip a beat.

Early morning Gene fresh out of the bedroom! A rare sight!

"It's time for breakfast..." he said sleepily.

He was on his way to the dining table when he collapsed on the couch and fell back asleep.

"Wake up...!!" Ms. Cat raised her voice. "How can you lazily fall back asleep like that in front of a guest?"

"It's ok. I'm used to seeing him like this," I said.

"You're like this at school too?" Ms. Cat hissed and began scolding him.

Whoops. Sorry, Gene.

"Good morning, my wifey!" Prof. Dog suddenly appeared behind Ms. Cat and hugged her.

"Dog! This isn't the time for this!"
