Chapter 17

When I arrived in school the following Monday, I saw Gene talking to Cyrus in the classroom. I almost dropped my books when I saw them. It was a miracle!

I grabbed Momo, who was on her way to the classroom. "They're talking! Look Momo! They're interacting."

Momo grinned. "We did it!"

We hugged each other to celebrate the success of our secret operation.

"Are you girls ok?" Cyrus tilted his head, confused about what was happening.

"We're great!" Momo and I did a thumbs up.

The teacher came in. We sat all down for class.

Mr. Latrell wrote down some dates on the blackboard. "Exams are fast approaching, so I hope all of you have begun studying."

I sulked. I hated exam week because I couldn't play videogames. I glanced at Gene, who was also sulking.

Momo leaned closer to me and whispered, "Want to eat cake after class? My brother has been craving sweets all morning."

"Sure."

"Be sure to tell Gene too."
