“Please enter your name where indicated, as well as your room number. As a son of il Duca, you are in one of the suites in il Castello, yes?”
“Yes. So, when I enter this information, what happens?”
“My modest fee for services will be charged to your account.”
“Modest fee?”
“Oh yes, very modest—the amount is displayed at the top of the screen—and the family supplements it with a small stipend. I work here in the family baths two or three days a week. The rest of the time, I am at the public baths, where I am charging three times as much to provide the same service to fat German tourists.”
“And do you stay busy?”
“At the tourist baths, I work by appointment only, and I am always fully booked.”
