Chapter 8

Oliver and Jack rushed over to Harley's, taking the note and eye with them for proof, and rode in silence. Neither boy knew what to say, or what to do, other than think about what had just happened. Finally, they arrived at their destination, and knocked on the door. Ann answered it, her neon orange skirt, green shirt, and blue shoes almost blinding Jack. "What's wrong? And why are you both so pale? Well, paler than usual, Jack." "Knock it off! This here is serious!" Jack told her, shoving the letter in her hands. "We need to get inside. Whoever is stalking us might be waiting to make their move." Oliver chimed in, pushing both of them inside, and locking the door. Harley came down the steps, dressed in a small, white dress that stopped at her knees. She had her hair down, since it came to her shoulders, and it was very curly. She also had on soft, brown boots that came up to right under her knees. "Did I miss something?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. Jack looked back at Harley, who had gone pale, and sighed as she dropped the box on the floor. Ann took the note from her, and read it, scowling. Then, she picked the box up, and looked inside, but she didn't turn pale. She was the one who didn't scare easily in this family. "Whoever sent this is sick. But I bet it's a prank." Jack walked over to her, and picked the eyeball out of the box, making sure she could see it by waving it around. "You think this is a fucking prank?! This is a real eye! Trust me, I'd know if it was a prank." "Aw, dude, that's disgusting! Touching an eye bare-handed, it makes me wonder if you are sick also." Harley joked, trying to lighten the mood. But it didn't work. "Ok, look, this has us on edge, ok? I say we need a fun night out! How about..." Ann started, thinking. Jack put the eye back in the box, shaking his head, not even the slightest bit disgusted about touching it. "An escape room!" Harley finished, smiling. "Wouldn't that be the perfect fun night out?" Jack crossed his arms. He didn't want to go. But....if it made everyone else happy.....ugh. "Fine. But don't expect me to have fun." Oliver agreed, along with Ann, and they looked online. Eventually, they all settled on a murder mystery, Clue. And, since they only had an hour, they hopped into Jack's truck, and he drove off, listening to the GPS so he knew where to go. After a while of silence, Ann said, "Hey, guys, I think we're being followed. This car has been tailing us since the first turn." Jack looked in the rearview, taking a mental picture of the black SUV on their tail, and smirked. He knew what to do. "I don't like that smirk, Jack. What are you thinking? Why don't I like it?" Harley said, raising an eyebrow. Jack made a hard turn left. "Just hang onto something, all of you. Here..." He sped up. "We...." He shifted the gear stick. "GO!"
