Chapter 13

Since the other two were working on clues, mumbling to themselves and each other, Jack decided he would need evidence if they got out alive. No, not if. When. He told himself, going back to the kitchen. He unfolded the note, then let it between the bowl and head, and took a picture. He went back to the lobby, and, as much as he hated it, since it felt like he was insulting Ann, he took a picture of her body on the floor. He also took the first note he'd got from his pocket, unfolded it, and opened the box. He then placed both items on the counter, and took a picture from above, so they could see the eyeball. He put everything up, back how he had it, and met the others. He wasn't the slightest bit calm. Now, they only had fifteen or so minutes left, and one clue left, judging from how both Oliver and Harley were huddled in front of a desk, staring at some type of diagram. He whispered in Harley's ear, "I've got proof for when we get out of here. And I have the knife that was used on Ann so we can defend ourselves, if we need to, so whenever you figure this out..." She nodded, and told Oliver, but made it look like they were hugging each other, not talking in secret. Jack looked at the clue, the very last, and tried to figure it out. He noticed it wasn't a diagram. "Morse code!" He said, smirking, and trying to steal his nerves. When they walked out, there could be the murders waiting to kill them, or maybe another body part would be left for them to find. He pushed that out of his mind, and focused on the dots and dashes and lines on the paper, translating it pretty easily. And it held the code to unlocking the door. "Someone go to the door, I've got the code!" Harley raced to the door, her hands shaking, and let him know she was ready a second later. "One, nine, one, eight." A moment of silence passed. "Nothing. Maybe mix them around a little....." Jack heard a click, and Harley shouted, "Yes!" They both ran to the first room, and Jack peeked around the corner, making sure it was safe. He knew something was wrong when the lights shut off. He tried to turn, and rub back in, for fear of being next. But a hand gripped onto his hair, from behind, and a second covered his mouth, dragging him away.
