"Do you mind if we talk?"
Upon hearing that phrase, an irrational wave of unease ran through Marcus. Why, he did not know. But something about that phrase put him on edge.
"Uhm, sure. What about?" Marcus asked.
"You, I guess."
"Me? What about me?"
"You seem different. You've changed recently," she said with a concerning tone.
"I have? How?" Marcus was skeptical. While his opinion on the entire situation he was in was different, his overall personality was largely the same from his perspective.
"I don't know. But ever since yesterday, when you went with that woman in that building, something seems off about you."
"You're seeing something that isn't there," Marcus said with a slight laugh. "I'm fine I'm still me. Nothing's different, don't worry."
