Festive Kindleshire

On that day , Kindleshire was magnificently wrapped in the glistening decorations by the people of the town. Why shouldn't it be so , if it's the New Year's Day? People could be seen celebrating the first day of 1934 in their own unique way. Men could be seeing enjoying in the pubs , drinking champagne, dancing and singing and exchanging gifts among close ones. Children could be seen jostling on the side lane , playing and collecting presents . The women of the family indulged themselves in decorating their houses. The proclamation to decorate the whole town was made by the town Mayor, Mr. Vince , himself. Every men and women were involved in decorating the town and even the Mayor's family took part in it. The Mayor and his family distributed gifts to every town-dwellers.

If we talk about Mr. Vince as an individual, although he looked grumpy and fat ,he was a very polite soul. Even after being the head , or rather the Mayor of the town , he never appealed to his higher stand in an egoistic and exploitive way. The people of the town were no different from his own family. Once a town-dweller's house got completed destroyed due to a huge fire. All his belongings and money were in ashes. Not only his , a couple of houses also got severely affected by that monstrous fire and even a young man was so much affected by the fumes , that his life was in risk. Mr. Vince had taken a rapid move to take that person to a good hospital in Birmingham for better treatment and care. He and his family worked together by re-constructing their houses and provided them with food , clothing and shelter , in the meantime. Many say that fire was purposely set by any group in the intent of seeking vengeance from them while others say that it was due to the uncontrollable expansion of fire in the fire-place , which was indeed abnormal. Inclusive of his deeds , Mr. Vince was loved by every soul of the town.

Like that, the New Year's Day went with everyone wishing one another, enjoying and decorating the houses and streets and ending the eve with magical fireworks that carved the night firmament in it's own dazzle.

The next day went in all the preparations at Mr.Vince's house. Mr. Vince had arranged the marriage of his only daughter, Shelly , with the town warden's elder son , Joseph Craigston. Even though it seemed as an arranged marriage to the rest of the Vince family, but both Shelly and Joseph were in prolonged touch much before the arrangements and fraternity made by their families. Joseph was an independent individual and had his own established business in Birmingham and Coventry. He owned a textile industry and for the past three years , his firm has gained much recognition and profit. The dates of engagement were however yet to be decided. Mr. and Mrs. Vince greeted their guests at the door and escorted them to the hall room. Mrs. Vince had prepared several delicacies for the guests. After a couple of minutes or so , Shelly was accompanied by her father to the throng at the hall room.

'Darling , wouldn't you greet your new family? Put up a smile in your face. ' said Mr. Vince to his daughter. Even though she knew Joseph for a considerable time , she felt a little too shy in front of them. The guests included Joseph himself, his parents, his younger brother Harley ,his grandmother and his paternal uncle. They discussed on the traits of their wards , their businesses, their opinions about the expansion of colonisation and many more topics , on and beyond the track. Joseph's mother called to Shelly and said "So would you accept us as your family ? Me as your mother?" Shelly smiled in an appealing way and so did the rest of them.

The date of their engagement was finalised to be on the eighth day of the month followed by the grand wedding ceremony.

Almost all the people of the town attended the events. Everybody was warm heartedly welcomed to the ceremony and their delight shall turn out as heartfelt auspicious blessings to the couple who were about to commence a new journey.
