Congratulations it's Fire

It's been a few weeks since my acquisition of Lord Second's research, along with the sword. In that time I have broken down this project into sections, with the help of the research.

The handle.

The blade.

The magnetic field around the blade.

The Fuinjutsu that I don't understand, somehow it connects multiple separate seals to work in tandem.

Unfortunately when it came to the majority of the Fuinjutsu i wasn't sure what exactly it did, it being personal Fuinjutsu and all. But despite all that I was able to recreate the surprisingly simplest part on this blade.

The chakra converter.

This whole thing feels a lot more like technology than Fuinjutsu.

But for some reason it doesn't work.

At first I was like whatever and labeled it a failure before making another one.

This one didn't work either.

Again I didn't think much of it failure was a common occurrence in this kind of work.

But after a few weeks of nothing I was starting to get a little annoyed.

I couldn't find the problem.

So I took a step back. Threw out everything I thought I figured out and tired again from step one.

Failure.

Again.

Over and over.

All the things was supposed to do was take my chakra and convert it into lightning release. It was crude but it should've worked. I was stuck, without a stable power source I had no way of continuing this project.

Three weeks of experimenting and I wasn't anything closer to figuring out why my version didn't work.

I had one guess as to why my version doesn't work.

I needed a stable version of the power source for it to be able to convert chakra for me. But had no way of creating one easily as the thing won't even turn on.

I either needed to brute force it until I made one already in tune or figure out another way.

Theoretically at least.

I could still just be wrong.

But that would be depressing so I'm gonna go with my hypothesis.

Just as I was about to go back to work I felt a certain someone pop up on my radar.

Kakashi.

Haven't seen him in a few months.

Making sure the scroll was all nice and tidy I placed it aside for safekeeping before standing up for a mighty stretch.

That felt good.

Leaving my study I made my way to the front door, opening it immediately.

Kakashi stood there holding his hand mere inches away from opening the door himself before I interfered.

"Kakashi…," I say barely above a whisper as I'm struck with a realization.

It's my chakra.

That's why it doesn't work.

My version is far too crude to convert just anyone's chakra.

"I love you," I say, thanking him for this eureka before pushing past him into the village.

I need someone with a primary affinity for lightning release.

I decided to see if anyone I knew had lightning release because boy would it simplify things.

Anko was the first subject of my investigation and after she extorted me for money I discovered her primary affinity was fire.

Who would've guessed?

I already knew Taki's was earth so he was immediately crossed off the list, along with Obito.

That left Guy, Minato, Kushina, and maybe Rin? I don't know if we're friends, we never talk just the two of us.

So I'll leave her for when all else has failed.

Tracking down Guy wasn't difficult; he followed the same routine pretty much every day when he wasn't on active duty.

Which he wasn't thankfully.

Oh hey, all three of us are in the village at the same time, I should force some socializing onto Kakashi.

Unfortunately Guy didn't have what I sought after either but I did set some other plans in motion so it was still a worthwhile trip.

My last hope was the Uzumaki and the Namikaze.

As I approached I felt the high concentration of chakra that was called Kushina inside the residents so at the very least she's here.

Knocking on the door I waited for Kushina to approach but she didn't.

The door opens.

Excellent Minato home as well.

"Sozo. What can I do ya for?" Minato asked.

"Who is it!" Yelled Kushina from within.

"Sozo!"

"Is he staying for breakfast?"

"Are you staying for breakfast?"

"Nah I have things to do. Thanks though." I responded.

"No!" Minato yelled before focusing on me once again, "What can I do ya for?" He repeated.

"Do you or Kushina have lightning release as your primary affinity?"

"Sorry no but I can use lightning release if that can help?" Minato spoke apologetically.

"If all else fails I'll come back for your help," I say as I turn to leave.

"Alright. See you around, Sozo. Oh you should accompany Kakashi tomorrow. I have a surprise for him," Minato said before closing the door.

Kakashi is gonna have a busy next couple days.

Alright… Rin… should I even bother?

I took a moment to mull it over in my mind before coming to a decision.

Mind as well. I'd rather speak with her then someone I'm not even familiar with. Sure she likely just as fire but who knows she could have lightning.

I have wind after all.

I had no idea where she lived but thankfully she should be in the Academy soon if not already so I could just go there.

Arriving at the Academy I am sad to see class was already in session and would be for the next couple hours.

For a moment at least, then a potentially fun idea popped into my head.

Removing my forehead protector and tool pouch I left them on a secluded stop on the roof along with a please don't touch note.

That should keep the trained professional killers away.

Making my way around the Academy I reminisce on my days of waking up, going to the Academy, then usually some kind of training. Especially once the war started. I went weeks without speakers to either of the Hatake's, I'm sure they both expected me to leave; Usually I would've but that had been the happiest I'd been in a long time. I wasn't about to let that go.

Shame it still wasn't enough.

Ugh…

Positive thinking Sozo… positive thinking.

You're here to find a solution to an obstacle in your way, and maybe have some fun.

Pushing those thoughts aside I looked up to the window of my classroom before walking up the wall.

Where's the sensei?

The room only had students.

Well this has lost all its potential fun.

Vanishing from my position I appeared in the back of the class, nobody noticed. Walking forward I passed some faces I vaguely remember, they paid me no mind.

Rin wasn't present but I could feel her in a nearby room.

I have figured out what is happening.

Graduation.

It became pretty obvious when a kid walked in smiling ear to ear with his new status symbol.

Taking a seat next to Obito. I made myself comfortable.

Obito was far too occupied with his nerves to even pay me any mind.

We didn't have to wait too long before Rin returned and Obito was up next apparently for some reason. Not exactly how I would order things but hey you do you.

Rin nearly walked right past me.

"Rin," I say, getting her attention.

"Akinori?" Rin said as she finally noticed me.

"Good to see you as well. Can you channel some of your chakra into this paper so I can see what your primary affinity is?"

"Umm… ok," she replied sounding unsure

"Cool."

Handing her the paper I waited in anticipation for a few moments but they felt much longer at the time.

The paper burned up.

Of course… What did I expect?

"Congratulations you have fire," I say before vanishing before her eyes.

She looked around in an attempt to locate me but I was already out the window.

Grabbing my things I accepted defeat for now.

I should've stayed for breakfast.

"What's up with you," Kakashi spoke across from me.

"Nothing of substance. Just a minor issue with my latest project," I respond trying to move past the issue and enjoy my food with little success.

Kakashi doesn't respond for some time but eventually does pick the conversation back up.

"What's this issue?"

"I need something with a primary affinity for lightning," I say.

"Sozo."

"Yeah?"

"I have a primary affinity for lightning," Kakashi said.

"Really?! How come Minato didn't tell me," I say now, upset.

I thought Kakashi had an earth or fire primary affinity as they are the only two I've seen him use.

"I don't use it often."

"So even he was unaware?" I ask.

"Yeah."

Strange but what Kakashi chooses to use is his decision.

Standing up I quickly grabbed one of the chakra converts.

"Put some of your chakra in this."

Following my directions he put a bit of his chakra into the seal. Taking the seal I place it on the table before taking a step back.

Activating it I watch as the seal comes to life destroying itself with lightning.

All at once a wave of relief washed over me.

I can actually do this.
