CHAPTER 17

The present day....

Yoo Na paid extra attention to the teacher since she had lost a week's learning. She felt the girls snickering behind her back but she ignored, their gossips and snickers were the least of her worries, she was thinking of going to the police for more information, she wanted to find out what their lead on the case was even if they had already told her they couldn't give her any information, maybe she could at least persuade them by showing them how motivated she was to help catch the culprit.

The lunch bell rang but she didn't have the appetite to eat anything and she definitely didn't want to be anywhere near those rich spoilt kids so she stayed in the class instead and studied some more to catch up on what she had lost. She watched as they all scurried out if the class to eat lunch as she brought out her books to study. But she noticed that the guy behind her didn't leave, she knew he was still there because she heard the moving of his chair, but he didn't leave.

She saw the popular girl with short hair walk over to the boy behind her with her close friends, a boy and a girl behind her.

"Cha eun!" In Ra called but he had a headphone on as he laid his head on the table making it impossible for him to hear them. In Ra pondered on tapping him but she knew how arrogant he could be when he was being disturbed so she refrained from embarrassing herself in front if the poor girl. She walked over to Yoo Na with her two friends behind her like minions.

Yoo Na felt them hovering above her but she continued to ignore them as she buried her face in her books. She knew they were up to no good and there was no way the proud rich girl would want to be her friend.

"Hey Yoo Na, welcome to Elites High, I'm In Ra the daughter of the owner of the school." She said with a proud voice and Yoo Na couldn't care less if she was the president's daughter. Yoo Na looked up at them with a blank expression. In Ra was the same height with her, she had short black hair and yes, she was beautiful but she had this intimidating look on but Yoo Na couldn't be intimidated by her. The girl behind her was a short girl with long wavy hair, she had tiny eyes which was full of contempt as she looked at her and the boy behind them was taller and he had a built physique even though he was lean, he had a troublesome look on his face and the way they looked at her told her that they hadn't come here to welcome her at all.

"Hello." She said with a flat tone and then diverted her attention back to her books. She wasn't scared of being bullied because she knew she could handle them. She had practiced martial arts since she was ten and she was pretty good. The girls looked at each other in confusion as the poor kid didn't seem to be interested in them.

"You have really pretty hair, you're so pretty." In Ra complimented as she brushed her fingers through her hair but Yoo Na was smart enough to know that she didn't mean it, the girl was obviously jealous that she was prettier than her.

"You're very pretty too." Yoo Na said with clear impatience in her voice as she buried her face in her books with a focused face.

"Really? Thanks, you know I didn't think my beauty products were that good but now I'm sure they work after you complimented me." In Ra said but Yoo Na didn't reply as she continued to pay full attention to her books. In Ra scoffed as she realized the poor kid was ignoring her.

"She was still talking to you, how can you be so mannerless?" Da Yeon said as she gritted her teeth in anger at the Yoo Na.

"There's nothing to talk about and besides, don't you see I'm busy?" Yoo Na said with a flat tone, not taking her eyes off the book. Da Yeon laughed hysterically.

"How can a trash like you even talk to us?" Da Ri yelled in anger. Yoo Na stared at her with a calm expression as she said,

"You talked to me first." She said in a flat tone as she continued with what she was doing. Da Ri was about to say something but was interrupted with Cha Eun's sudden movement as he sat up with raised head, then he took off his headphones. Cha Eun knew exactly what was going on as he saw the trio gather round the new girl. She was obviously their target for bullying next, he had seen them bully a lot of people especially the poor ones but he never interfered since it was none of his business and he didn't care anyway. In Ra smiled at Cha Eun immediately his gaze fell on her.

"Oppa, I didn't want to disturb you earlier but do you want to have lunch together?" In Ra said not giving a care what Da Ri and Nam Joo were busy doing with Yoo Na.

"I'm not your oppa and I don't want to have lunch with you." Yoo Na heard his hard voice speak and she stifled a laugh at the embarrassing situation but still somehow managed to focus on her books. In Ra was speechless with shame on her face, she gulped down the embarrassment as she spoke.

"Its okay, have you met Yoo Na?" She said with a mock filled voice, trying to divert the embarrassment from her but he didn't seem to care as he stayed silent while browsing through his phone.

"Yes..She's sexy too." Nam Joo said licking his lips, examining her body with his eyes as he stretched his hand towards her and touched her cheek. Yoo Na got irritated by his action and jolted up from her chair with anger written on her face, they were all startled by her movement even Cha Eun's eyes were on her wondering what she was going to do since none of their bully victims had ever stood up to them.

"Don't touch me again." She warned, her voice was cold and firm that they felt a little intimidated by hers since no one had ever talked back, let alone fight back. Nam Joo laughed.

"What would you do if I touch you?" He said and was about to place his hand on her shoulder but she quickly grabbed his wrist and pinned it on the table with a loud thud. Nam Joo shrieked in pain and she let go as she pushed him away almost falling on the floor.

"You crazy bitch!" Nam Joo cussed at her but he wouldn't make the mistake of coming close to her to avoid getting embarrassed by her again.

In Ra and Da Ri were speechless by her sudden action and so was Cha Eun. He suddenly found the new girl interesting, she was smart and confident. Smart because she quickly let go of Nam Joo before he had a bruise in his wrist and confident because she stood up to them and defended herself. 'She must have come prepared' he thought as he looked at her and he admired her courage to stand up to those losers.

"If you think you can bully me and get away with it then you're definitely wrong, because right now I'm in my angriest I've ever been so don't even think of trying to bully me or you'll regret it." She warned fiercely and Da Ri immediately cowered. In Ra was boiling with anger, no one had ever talked to her like that and here she was been humiliated in front of Cha Eun by a poor wretched girl like her.

In Ra scoffed in anger, how dare her.

"How dare you? I'm the director's daughter so I can immediately get you expelled!" In Ra yelled at her but she wasn't moved by her words.

"I doubt that. What I've learnt from rich people is that they cherish their good name in the society a lot and the only way your father does that is by giving scholarship to the poor, so I don't think you can do anytging about it." Yoo Na said overly confident and In Ra almost went mad with anger because the wretched girl was right. She gritted her teeth in anger as she walked out with her minions beside her.

Yoo Na sat down as she sighed deeply, she just wanted to quietly finish highschool in peace but she knew now that it wouldn't be possible.

"You were brave but you should have just ignored them ." She heard Cha Eun say and she whipped her head backwards giving him full sight of her beauty.

"I'm too angry to ignore something so annoying." She said shortly as she sat back straight. Cha Eun could notice the anger in her eyes and heavy sadness that laid on them, he could recognize them because of the same anger and sadness he passed through after his mother had died.
