After an hour or so the training was over. I'm not sure how I did compare to others but I guess I'll find out tomorrow. I do feel depleted though, I have to recover my magic again. I have about 3 hours before my next class so there's plenty of time. I wonder what happened after that incident with Samantha. I sigh, no use wondering anything like that, maybe she'll finally stop bothering me.
The only issue would be what to do in these three hours. Should I head to the library or something? My next class is in the upper right corner arena so I won't have to walk far if I go to the library. I guess It'll do.
I get to the library, no one is here. The only other person is a girl at the reception desk. Whatever happened to Tess? It doesn't matter, so, is there anything I'm particularly curious about today?...
...What about, the reason behind this whole polygamy thing. Why aren't regular humans allowed to be with magic soldiers? I walk over to the counter where the girl with brown hair and purple eyes this time.
"Yo, I'm searching for a book."
"..." The girl looks down and doesn't answer me.
"Is there a problem?"
"..."
I sigh. I won't get anywhere asking this girl anythings.
"I'll just find what I am looking for myself then. If Tess arrived her tell her Luis is searching for a book." I start walking away, that being said...How am I supposed to find something in this library?
"Wait!" (???)
What does this girl want now?
"What is it?"
"Oh...um... what kind...searching for. *mumble* "
"What was that? I couldn't catch what you were saying."
"What kind of book are you searching for?!"
Why is she screaming now? She starts coughing, I guess she's not used to screaming. She reaches for a cup of water but ends up tipping it over.
I chuckle. I get closer to the counter again and I see here trying to wipe the water. I grab the cup of water she had and fill it with water magic.
"Here you go, try not to spill it." I place the cup on the desk. "I'm searching for a book that talks about any relationship between a magic soldier and a normal human."
"Thanks... Let me see if I can...find anything."
It looks like she finally got her act together. She types some things into the computer and drinks the water.
"Um, there's one on the second floor on section B."
We stay there silently for a couple of moments. Is that all she's going to say, what about the book title or something. She starts showing some discomfort, does she think I'm not leaving because of something else?
"Umm, so what's the book's title."
"Oh yeah, right. I'm sorry about that!"
This girl is a real airhead... She kind of reminds me of when I first met Mary.
"Well, um, it's called. 'The effects of nonmagical and magical pairings.'"
"Alright, thank you," I start walking away.
"...You're welcome."
Huh? Oh, I said thank you. When was the last time I said that... she has a calming demeanor...I walk away towards the section.
I find the book and start reading. After an hour or so of skimming, I haven't really finished the book but I got the general gist. Basically, whenever a regular human and magic soldier have a baby, the baby is born as a regular human or the child's magical power is way below average.
This was first found about 12 years ago so it was somewhat recent. According to research, a child will receive either a similar element to each of their parents or two similar elements for both. I guess that'd explain the polygamy thing, I'm rather curious as to what specific examples happened though.
I might find more clues that way. Do I know anyone who would know of any way to get that information...
... There's only one way I can think of that I could get that information. That's by asking someone... three people come to mind. Mr. Taylor, but he's way too far off and I don't even know how to contact him. Principal Robinson, but I doubt she'd give me a straight answer and Tess, that old librarian may know something... She's probably my best option if I decide to pursue this any- I look at the time. Holy crap, I'm about to be late for my class.
I grab the book and run towards the counter. She starts panicking, I put the book down on the counter.
"My bad, but I have to go now or I'll be late for my next class, return this to where it was please."
I left without waiting for an answer. I arrived at the dueling arena barely in time. I need to calm my breathing. I look up, there's a woman about 20 years old, she has long brown hair and black eyes. Next to her is a girl with short black hair and black eyes.
"You were almost late for my class." (???)
"Well, it's not like I chose to be here."
"Watch your tongue."
"I can't, it's inside my mouth."
She starts laughing. " Your tongue is as sharp as Jackelin says."
"...Jackelin?"
Did I forget someone?
"Principal Robinson."
"I see."
I think she said it to me once before but I guess I forgot since I didn't hear her first name after that.
"So then, why exactly did you want me to be in this class?"
"Well, I heard of a deca-elemental with a sharp tongue so I thought to myself, this might be interesting." (???)
"Deca-elemental?! Really?!"(???)
"Yep, you heard right Stephanie. I was just a curious so I had you join my class."
This is becoming more annoying. I just want to get this class over with.
"Can we just start this class, I want it to be over already. I've never even tried using my shadow element before."
"Alright then try to manifest it, I won't bother with you otherwise. Stephanie, let's use this side of the arena to train."
Fuck this bitch.
"Okay." (Stephannie)
So first she's going to first me to take this class and tells me she won't bother if I can't manifest my own shadow elements? Fuck her! I don't even want to manifest it, to begin with. I sit down, I'll just stay here the whole time and not do anything.
Plus, I don't really need to use shadow magic offensively, to begin with. I won't really have to test it for firepower...
...however I would like to test it for mobility. More often than not I see people in anime merging with their shadow to move, maybe I can do that too. I close my eyes.
Alright, I don't really care about manifesting it but this will definitely be useful. So, I should focus on the image of merging with my shadow then.
[Shadow shot]
I open my eyes, they are too distracting. I close my eyes again, I'll just not let them bother me and focus solely on the image of me and my shadow merging... I feeling of heaviness slowly starts to envelop my feet, followed by my waist. Whatever, I'll just keep my focus.
"...hey... hey!...HEY!!" (Teacher)
"Mhhh, what is it?" I open my eyes and see my teacher with an angry look.
"What are you doing?"
"Oh, um... I don't know." I look around and I'm halfway into my shadow. " I see, so it was a success."
"What was a success?!"
"Merging with my shadow, I wanted to see if that was possible."
"Why are you skipping several steps?! All I did was tell you to manifest your shadow element."
"What kind of ass teacher tells they are not interested after calling me to there class. I just did what I wanted to do since you didn't show interest."
She starts laughing. "You're an interesting kid, looks like I'll have to train both your mind and your element properly."
"Good luck with both."
This will be the last part to "First day," after this the stories and interactions will increase. Quite frankly, I'm panicking a bit. It's really different from what I wrote in the Vigilante Ark so I am not sure whether it will go well or not, nor do I know if it will make much sense.
