“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, please have a seat. My name is Christopher, and I’ll be your MC for this evening. Well, sort of. I’m actually Darren’s favorite cousin.”

Darren rolled his eyes before whispering into Ivan’s ear. “As if.”

Ivan shoved his right elbow lightly against Darren’s firm stomach. “Babe, play nice now.”

Darren pouted at Ivan. “Fine.”

“Darren has prepared this anniversary surprise for Ivan, the love of his life,” Christopher said. “Aw! Isn’t that sweet?”

The guests whooped and hollered while Darren glared at Christopher. However, his gaze softened when Ivan smiled at him.

“Thank you, babe.”

Darren beamed at Ivan. “You’re welcome. Love you.”

“Love you, too.”

“Now, there are glasses of champagne on the table for the adults. Kids, you can take the glasses of coke instead. Okay? Ready? Everyone, lift your glasses. Can we all wish both Ivan and Darren a happy ninth anniversary? On the count of three. One, two, three. Happy ninth anniversary!”
