Chapter 4

after a few minutes we make it out of the city and it is desolate no grass just dry dirt and dead trees I tell Jack "lets keep going there must be survivors we should find them" and we set off as we are going I look around I never knew what destruction nukes could have its like they wipe out mother nature it will take tens of years to recover or even hundreds

after a few days walking well I rode Jack and he walked we start to see weird chard ground and trees that are chard we see people walking I think yes there are survivors and I start shouting "HEY OVER HERE HELLO IM A SURVIVOR LIKE YOU GUYS" as we get closer one they have red skin we arrive and one of them a female says "hello human what brings you to us" I say "I just came from a city that is desolate and I'm wondering the state of the world" she says "my name is Fiona and I can tell you for a price" I says "what do you want" she says "what can you offer" I say "for the run down I can offer you something you cant get anywhere else" she says "what is that" I go to the truck and pull out a empty rune backpack I go over to her and give her it and says "this is a rune backpack it is 5 times the size of a normal backpack and cuts the weight in half" she inspects it and with wide eyes says "how did you make this I have never seen anything like this I would gladly take it for the info" I say "secret I plan on selling thing like thing to help humanity" she says "alright I will give you the run down after the nukes went off as you call them a gate to the under world and the heavens was opened vampires and werewolves started making bases angels made a sanctuary as they call it which it really isn't and us demons made a deal with humanity to help them the vampires have four major bases and the werewolves live up in what was Canada vampires enslave humans and werewolves just hunt them angels make them follow rules that are very strict and if they even think about breaking one they kill them and demons we seem like the good guys compared to the rest we just live our lives humans with us have to work though thats the deal noble demons have humans to do anything for them like servants god also is rumored to have left the earth and there is mutated beasts they use radiation in weird ways some people can tame them like you they are really destructive" I say "what I was cut off with the world for one month and it went to shit and your a demon not that there's anything bad with being a demon I just didnt think they__" she says "could exist or are as good as they seem" I say "yes" she says "well since you are probably needing directions to the nearest city why dont you come with us we are heading there now" I can hear the other people whispering "lucky guy" I agree

we set off and on the way we talk she is apparently Lucifers daughter which I can only trust her word but it seems legit and the people accompanying her are demon guards Jack seems to not mind them animals have a good sense of danger I have learned also that Fiona is half demon half fallen angel she keeps her wings away when they are not in hell because angels could sense her

we get to the city called L.A. I cant wait to meet other humans Fiona says "you should make sure your stuff is secure dont want it to be stolen" I say "thank you" she says "you were the first person to talk to me normally" I say "well I am probably going to open a shop here your welcome anytime" she takes out a piece of really thick paper and writes something in it and hands it to me she then says "take this to a demon called Devon he will give you a place on my behalf I am basically royalty after all" I say "bye" and I leave to find this Devon

after about a hour or two we reach a place called Devon's Real estate it was very awkward getting here people kept looking at jack with fear and admiration because I could tame such a thing well tame is not the right word befriend is a better word anyways I walk in to his office building and go to the receptionist who is a demon and say "so would like to speak with Devon please" she says "you human think you can speak with devon what gives you the right" I pull out the piece of paper and flash it she immediately changes attitude and calls someone to brings me to his office

I walk in and he sighs and says "let me see the paper" I give him the paper and he does something to it and it goes up in flames he says "so you need a shop and a house well what will you be selling apparently it even got her attention" I say "I would be selling something very powerful and useful runes" he looks at me with confusion and says "what are runes" I show him a spare backpack I brought in he says "oh my lucifer how did you make such a thing" I say "I can't tell you that but I have a lot of other runes that are equally as useful or more" he says "well I would be more than happy to sponsor you what materials do you need" I say "I just need the item that you want it printed on and what rune it is a very affordable business of course ink could be used to make it easier" he says "I will sponsor you on whatever you need ink pen or whatever"

he got me a shop right next to a house thats mine the shop looks small but big enough to fit what I need he says "this is what I could get on such short notice sorry if its not up to standard" I say "its fine I didnt need a big shop"

he leaves so I could get set up I put a sign out saying "Rune Haven opening in XX XX XXXX special opening discount" I planned to sell basic backpacks at 3 times the price of normal backpacks a steal if you ask me you might be wondering how much is that well normal currency dropped down to nothing of value and supernatural currency claimed the top spot which was universal it was a crystal called Aterna and one normal backpack costs about 5 Aterna so around 15 Aterna for a basic backpack now for uncommon and rare I would decide later but for now they will be gifts to make allies

(I think this is going well for my first original novel I wanted to post another chapter because we hit 1k views and our first favorite)
