“Fine. I’ll tell you everything.”
“Okay. Go ahead, Patricia.”
“I need the money. We both do. Annie and I—”
“Shut up, Pat!” Annie shouted.
“No, I won’t. I’ve had enough. I’ve been hearing strange and horrifying sounds and seeing things that I used to think didn’t really exist in the real world.”
Annie seemed irritated by Patricia’s confession, but she remained quiet. Patricia, on the other hand, told Calian everything. When she was done, Calian simply stared at her for a few seconds before focusing all his attention on Annie.
“Do you have anything to add?”
“No!”
Calian turned toward Patricia once again. “Do you wish to make any corrections in that story?”
Patricia avoided Calian’s gaze. “N-no.”
Calian nodded. “Okay.”
