Thea’s POV
I have no memory of going into the coffee shop after my run-in with the Alpha. I head back to Ms. Victoria’s with the coffee grounds and her poppy seed muffin. I didn’t get anything for myself; I probably wouldn’t be able to keep it down anyway.
My heart is beating wildly in my chest, and I replay the Alpha’s words in my head.
“You best be careful. You never know who may be watching you.”
Did this mean that the Alpha was having me watched? Was he the figure I saw in the woods outside of the cottage? What if he was the one following me on my way back from Ms. Victoria’s?
He could have been trying to intimidate me, but maybe he has more sinister plans. If I were to bet on it, the Alpha meant the words that he said.
I make my way quickly back up the cobblestone path that leads to Ms. Victoria’s, but when I get to the fork in the road, I decide to head towards Emma’s. With the shock wearing off, I can feel tears pooling in the corners of my eyes.
