Chapter 24 The Lingering Shadow

Upon seeing Henry's name on the caller ID, Evelyn froze for a moment. 

She nervously asked Charles, "Charles, Henry is calling. Should I answer or not?" 

She almost forgot that she used to be the CEO of the Thompson Group subsidiary and was once known as a powerful and beautiful businesswoman.

But now, in front of Charles, she was becoming indecisive. 

Charles casually replied, "Why not? Isn't it the one who is taking the initiative to contact us to return the land?"

"Are they really returning it to us? I doubt it,"

Sunny was clearly skeptical of the Wilson family's intentions. 

Especially Henry, she imagined he must be furious after Evelyn broke off the engagement. 

As for Evelyn, she was also unsure.

Evelyn took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. 

She felt a sense of fear even at the thought of hearing Henry's voice.
