Savior (Part 1)

I woke up and saw the face of another man, but it was very blurry. My description was vague, light blue hair, emerald-green eyes, and lightly tanned skin. I fell asleep again, waking up to the same thing but I tried staying awake this time.

"Are you finally going to wake up?" He says.

"Where am I…?" I ask.

"You're inside my spare home." He responds. "This is of the Artirias Vastlands, I plant to move to Soltica."

"Oh…" I say.

"Remember this, I saved you from burning out in the sun." He places a cream all over my body. "Your skin is too pale for the outside alone, I am applying this cream to heal it."

"Thank you-" I flinch from the spike in pain.

"Save your gratitude for later, speaking too much will make your chest hurt." He continues. "Make sure you stay here to heal quicker; I will leave you water on your side after you can move more."

"Okay…" I sigh.

He finishes up with applying the cream and helps me sit up. I look around and see very few things, then he held up a cup of water to help me drink. I drink as he holds it higher and higher until the cup is empty. I take a breather and try to move my arm. It barely moved, so I gave up.

"Your body needs rest." The man says. "Try not to move, I doubt you can until the next sunrise."

'Tomorrow morning?' I try looking around again. There was a little window and it was slightly dim. 'I'm guessing it's almost getting dark, so I just need more sleep that's all…' I looked back at the man's face; he was sewing something together.

"These will be your temporary clothes." He keeps looking at his work. "I found you out cold, bare naked, you've been covered by the blanket so don't worry too much."

I start to blush a little as I look away. 'So that means… he saw everything! No no no no…' Slightly panicking, I glance back at the man, who was quietly chuckling. Then he stops and continued sewing.

"You're from the cave, right?" The man asks. "My guess, you're a mermaid… Why did you leave?"

I don't answer him and look away. He sighs, putting everything down, then gets up to walk to me. He puts out the candle next to me and readjusts the blanket over me.

"Try to get some sleep, you'll be up and moving by tomorrow." The man softly smiles. "I'll be in the next room, if you ever need me then ring the bell up there next to you. Good night."

I watch as he walks off into the other room, leaving me to sleep. It was weird, treated nicely right after I got here running away from a creep. He didn't seem like a bad guy though, so I didn't try to worry too much. Closing my eyes, I drifted off to sleep. I had a weird dream of the man who saved me, he stood off in the distance and looked as if he was crying. I tried walking to him but I fell into a body of water and swam to the bottom. Then I saw him again, with a long and shining tail. It was a struggle in attempt to swim closer, but then I woke up. I see him next to me applying the cream on my arms again.

"So, you're awake." He says. "After I'm done with the cream on your arm you should try getting up, walk around. You finally have clothes on for once, I got them on you while you were asleep. I bet you're hungry, there's breakfast on the table if you want any."

"Who are you?" I ask. "Why did you help me?"

"Can you just be thankful without the questioning?" He finishes the cream. "Get up, you need to get used to walking."

"I don't think I've ever walked a day before in any of my lives I've lived." I say.

"What are you, an immortal?" He laughs.

I look him dead in the eyes and he looks at me, too stunned to speak. 'I didn't feel like being immortal at first but it's whatever to me now.'

"I'm sorry I just haven't met many immortal beings before." He says. "I'd only met one in Soltica, he was the Immortal Moon Elf, Al Krelin."

"Wait, there are more… can you lead me to him?" I move closer. "I have to meet him!"

"Woah, slow down pretty girl!" He looks away, "We'll be headed to Soltica soon, just hang on tight until we do, geez."

"Okay!" I smile.

"Hold on, you're a mermaid, why would you be so interested in an elf?" He asks.

"Well, he's an immortal being, and I'm an immortal being." I back away. "He might just help me understand how to live out life as an immortal."

"Oh, I get it I guess, is this new to you?" He asks.

"Yes, I was just recently reincarnated." I sigh. "I was sick, so my own loved ones poisoned me to die a peaceful death in my sleep."

"How awful, what made you sick?" He asks.

"I was born with a disease that slowly ate away at my body." I say. "First it was my legs, then towards my heart."

"So that's what you meant, I'm sorry." The man stands up. "Here, take my hand."

"Okay-" The instant I did, I was pulled up.

The weight of my body quickly took over and I almost fell, but he held me tight. Then helped me start walking over to the table. One by one, my feet, to my waist, went up and down. Struggling, but happily, I reached the end of the table and sat down in the chair.

"That was…" I say, out of breath. "Refreshing…"

"Hahaha, you'll get the hang of it." He laughed and sat down next to me. "Eat up, then we could start again with your walking."

"Okay!" I smile. "Thank you for the food!"

I gladly start eating up, he smiled and watched me a little bit but then began eating his portion. It was so good; I ate every last bite of it. He finished a little before me and kept smiling as he stared at me finally finishing up. I looked at him, confused, so I smiled back. Then he looked away and stood up.

"Uhm…" He clears his throat. "If you'd like to, we can go outside in the sun for a bit."

I gasp. "Really?"

"Yes." He looks at me. "Here, your staff."

'Oh, that's right, that guard gave me his staff.' I didn't notice before, but it looked beautiful. Golden, with a ring on the top that had blue crystals imbedded all around. He handed me the staff and I held it, then I stood up using it.

"Woah!" I started to tip over.

"I got you!" The man caught me. "I should just hold you from now on until…"

In that moment our faces were very close to each other. The fact made me flustered and it looked like he was too.

"Uh…" I stared deep into his eyes.

"Apologies." He then helped me stand up straight. "That was very rude of me."

It seemed like that went so slow, but then it was so fast too. He helped me start walking out the doorway and the sun quickly shined in my view. The wind was light, the tress were shaking, making noise with the leaves and the birds. The view was absolutely beautiful, I started to tear up.

"Are you okay…?" The man asks.

"Yes." I smile and wipe my tears. "It's just so beautiful… I love nature…"

"Well if you want, we could lay down in the grass near the flowerbed." He points over.

"Flowers!" I drop the staff and instantly run without thinking.

"Woah, wait for me!" He starts running with me.

I ran faster and faster, getting closer to the flowers. Stopping, I fall onto my knees next to the flowerbed and smile wide. I go closer and smell the flowers, it was wonderful, so fragrant. I dropped myself to lay down and I roll around in the grass.

"Woohoo!!" I laughed as my energy was all over the place.

"You really do love nature, don't you?" He laughs as he squats next to me. "How is it that a mermaid can so comfortably adore the nature outside of water? I thought you had never step foot outside."

"No, I never did." I look up at the sky. "Though, I loved to look at nature from afar, especially flowers, such beauties."

I hear him mumble something and look at him. "What was that?"

"Oh, nothing, it was nothing." He clears his throat. "Should we start heading back inside?"

"In a bit…" I smile. "I'd like to savor this moment."

He then lays down next to me, joining the peace.

"Nature is quiet, it fulfils a moment of sweet solitude…" He sighs.

I inhale the fresh air, Exhaling. "Indeed…"

We stay on the ground, taking in the moment of peace. I look towards the man, who seemed like he'd fallen asleep. I get a better look at his face and sit up, just to examine. 'Wow… I didn't really notice at first, but he's so good looking… Wait, oh heck no! You seriously can't be falling for a guy you just met so quickly!' I slap my face to concentrate my thoughts. He then turns over to my direction, still asleep. 'But he technically saved me… how could I not take a liking to him…' I slowly reach out my hand to touch his hair, but my wrist was grabbed and I saw his eyes open. 'He's awake?! Oh my gosh so embarrassing!'

"You could've just asked." He lets go and sits up.

"Oh… sorry…" I nervously laugh, looking away. "I'll just go back inside."

I started crawling away quickly and picked up my staff to help me walk back inside. When I did, I looked back at the little window, and the man was still sitting on the grass. He looked sad for some reason… but then he got up and started to walk back inside. Quickly, I used my staff again to rush over and sat on the edge of the bed. My heart started racing, I didn't know why though. Once he got back inside, he didn't even take a glance at me and headed straight to the other room. It suddenly felt odd, for the rest of the day he stayed in there until any time he made food. It all just ended up feeling awkward after a while.

"Come, there's lunch on the table." The man says.

"Oh, okay." I take my staff and walk to the table.

I sat down and looked at my food, it already looked and smelled delicious. Instead though, I looked back at the man, who was eating in silence.

"Hey." I say.

"What?" He stops to look at me.

"What's your name?" I ask. "You still never told me."

"Just eat your food." He looks back to his food and continues. "Eat it while it's hot."

"That doesn't answer my question." I say. "Please tell me what your name is."

"If you really want to know, then tell me yours." He says.

"Hey, I asked first!" I say. "Fine, don't tell me, I'll just eat my food…"

So I did, finished my food quickly, grabbed my staff, and headed back to sit on the bed. I kept pouting even when he finished eating. Though, he walked my direction and stopped, grabbing a chair to sit.

"My name…" He looks away. "It is Svelte Difoue…"

"Svelte Difoue?" I look at him and smile. "Such a nice name."

"You really think so…?" He looks at me.

"Yes, and my name is Lixlore." I say. "Is it alright if I call you Svel?"

"Svel?" He softly smiles. "Okay, I will call you by Lix then."

"All good with me!" I kept smiling.
