The Memoir Of An Immortal

"Two years!" It's been two years since I broke free from the shackles of the underworld and started a new journey as an immortal. I wasn't searching for a way out, though I was tired of my endless suffering in the underworld. He found me when I wasn't searching for Him, I've been granted amnesty despite my numerous sins against the Supreme immortal. "Tony Storm, I have a great assignment for you! Are you willing to start this journey?" I nodded my head weakly and that's how it all began. Regaining back the dignity of the human race from the rulers of the underworld, I now journey freeing those that were once like me and making sure I don't fall back to the underworld.

Entry 6 - My New Friend

It's been a week since I was discharged from the hospital, looking at me now no one would know the ordeal I went through. I am ever grateful to God for saving me through His only son Jesus Christ.

"Tony!"

"I am coming mum!" I answered as I hurried to dress up, she already told me I would be following her to church for the evening service. I chuckled lightly remembering the look she had on her face when she told me I would be going to church. She appeared nervous fearing I would refuse, but it was something I really wanted.

Even without her inviting me to church, I would have found a way to be in His presence again. Things are now diffrent from when I could see and hear Him, now it's the system of God's word leading me.

"Hmmph!" I sighed, "this is going to be tough!!" I said to myself, being pessimistic.

"Tony we are five minutes late already…!"

"I'm sorry mum!"

"Lord I am here for you!" I said in my heart as we highlited from the bus with all my attention on the building in front. The structure wasn't anything attention grabbing but if it is a place certified by God then I would accept it with all my heart.

As soon as we stepped into the church we saw a lady wave at us, beckoning to us. Without wasting a second I felt an iron like grip on my arm as my mum pulled me in her direction. "Ushers are like angels that show us to our seats where our blessings are…!" Those were mum's words not mine, though I doubted it.

"Jesus left this world after He died and resurrected, but He didn't leave us alone!"

"Hmmm!" Everyone nodded affirmatively while my mind couldn't help but go back to the boundless green land with one man dressed in brilliant white linen robes, standing beneath the tree.

"He left us a comforter, the person of the Holy Spirit who would teach us all things we do not know..!" The minister continued breaking me out of my previous reverie only to put me into another reverie.

"Why can't I see Him?" I asked myself, ever since I was freed from the underworld I've been seeing things normal eyes would never pick up, yet I've never seen this comforter. Though my mum told me about the Holy Spirit, I don't have a personal experience to speak of.

"When Jesus was left alone to face the cross…" The minister continued with all my attention on him. "Jesus said, I am not alone even though all men leave me, why?" He ended his statement with a question that struck my heart.

"Because He had the Holy Spirit in Him!" The minister answered, "you may not see the Holy Spirit but He lives in you!"

"He lives in me?" I questioned in my heart not in doubt though, after all I 'see things'.

"All you have to do is open your heart to Him, believe He is with you, talk to Him everyday and don't worry He will always respond, rise to your feet…!"

And that was how the service ended, "He will always respond!" I thought within myself as we recited Psalms 23 vs 6, the first bible verse my mum made me memorize.

"Hmmph!" I sighed as I dropped to my knees in the direction of my window which was opened, allowing the moon light to pierce in 'unobstructed'.

"Jesus Christ is in heaven but He left me a helper and a teacher!" I thought to myself. "If I talk to this helper I won't be ignored !?" I thought out loud, "I won't be ignored! I won't be ignored!! I won't be ignored!!" Like a mantra I kept going over those words again and again.

"Holy Spirit my name is Tony Storm, it's nice meeting you!" Looking around my room, there was nothing out of the ordinary. It felt awkward but that feeling was suddenly replaced with peace that I found hard to imagine.

Still I continued day after day, trying to know my new friend. I sometimes told Him how my day went, greeted Him or went quiet waiting to hear Him. Until one night, "mum good night!" I greeted my mum before walking into my room and then it happened. A white replesendent light suddenly burst into being leaving a strange scene.

My entire room was dark but in the spiritual parallel space the light was shining brighter than the sun at noon. I'm sure my mum would be in my room in seconds if she saw the reflection of the light of such an intensity.

"Tony Storm!" After what seemed to be a long time I heard my name, the voice was soft but it pierced straight into my soul radiating with warmth. Opening my eyes slightly I could see that the light wasn't as intense as before but soon after they widened with shock at the sight before me.

A pure white dove was levitating in my 'room', "hello Tony, I'm the Holy Spirit and it's nice to 'finally meet' you.

"He won't ignore you!" At that very moment the voice of the minister echoed in my heart. But this response of the Holy Spirit was far beyond what I imagined. "Ple… pleased to meet you too!" I stuttered in shock as the parallel world vanished before my eyes.

"Holy Spirit good night!!" I've made a new friend, with a cheeky smile on my face I climbed up my bed and closed my eyes to sleep. The feeling of exhaustion now aggressively spreading through my body as I took off to the dream world.

"Tony! It's time for breakfast!"

"I'm coming mum!" I answered as I jumped and danced around a bit, "Holy Spirit good morning, I had a wonderful night….!" And just like that I started my day, not forgetting to talk to my new friend. Rushing out of my room, I couldn't help a small smile crawling up my face.

"Mom! I met the Holy Spirit…"

"Tell me about it son!"
