Davien's P. O. V
She had me right where she wanted me and had thrown a bait she knew I wouldn't be able to refuse. Confident in her bargain, Carol stepped away from the car, "Come with me, let's go somewhere quiet to talk."
"Wait a second, how do I trust that you're not going to have me ambushed?" I retorted, certain that I couldn't take her words at face value. Stepping out of the car, I slammed the door and asked again more clearly this time.
"You know better than anyone that currently I'm not in my best form, and an ambush would probably deal a fatal blow to me. How do I trust you're not working against me?" It was a given that she despised me, so I wouldn't rule out that possibility.
She cocked her head at me and flashed me a smile, "You're going to die sooner or later, didn't Ceaser's men attack you last night? I don't need to get my hands dirty for a man like you."
