They tied Athena's hands behind her and placed her head on the beheading stool, it was already sunset and it was time to do as the king instructed, Other maids, servants, and guards were present including General Sam who stood at the front row with a devilish smirk on his scar face. They were about to let the blade fly when a guard suddenly ran towards Sir Ethan yelling the word 'wait'.
"What is it?" Sir Ethan asked and the guard handed him a scroll, panting hard, it was a letter from the king and since it had the Stone seal mark imprinted on it., then it was valid.
"The King has ordered us to let the girl go, her crime has been abolished, and we shall not behead her," Sir Ethan said folding up the scroll after giving the announcement as he gestured for a guard to release her.
"Nonsense!" General Sam said in disappointment earning a gasp from the audience, he walked towards them, taking the blade from Ethan and testing its weight and sharpness.
"General, it... It was the king's orders, if you proceed the king said he will kill me." The guard who brought the scroll said while stammering.
"We can tell him that we already behead her before the scroll came in, and as for you," He said looking at the guard "See you in hell," He said and with a swift flash he sliced off the guard's head as it fell to the ground with a thud, The blood staining Athena's face while she looked directly at the guards head that somehow faced her. This was going to haunt her for eternity and she knew it.
"Move aside." He ordered Ethan who was standing beside Athena. The General had more power compared to him and could kill him without batting an eye just like he did with the guard so without hesitation, he stepped aside.
General Sam raised the sword, ready to behead her, and then... "So this is the Man I am betrothed to... A freaking murderer who is ready to go against my father" Evie said with disbelieving eyes.
"You were about to go against my father... To kill?" She said again and the General brought down the sword. Evie turned away and ran towards the Castle, probably to inform her father of his disobedience and he ran after her.
"You are one lucky bitch," Sir Ethan said to Athena.
"Well, that's because was destined for greatness," Athena said reminiscing what her mother always told her.
"Precious jewels shouldn't be seen around common people, don't you think?" Athena said as she skillfully untied herself.
"Don't tell me you consider yourself a precious jewel, you are just a damn slave," He said while laughing.
"Destiny plays tricks, Ethan," She said and he stopped laughing, awed by the girl's guts. The Girl didn't look scared as if she knew she wouldn't be dying today.
"Athena!!" Belle called as she ran toward Athena who seemed to be in a very weak state as she stumbled her leg against the other.
"Ro... Rose is..." Belle tried to say the words but the distance she ran wasn't a small one, seeing how gigantic the castle was.
"Deep breaths Belle, I always say... "
"Rose is in the king's room" She finally said the words, cutting off Athena who now looked like she had seen a ghost.
"What!!?" She asked. She didn't know where the strength came from but she saw herself running towards the main building.
The clouds had turned dark and rain began to fall. She halted when she saw Rose coming out of the Castle's building with torn clothes and blood stains that was now slightly washed away by the rain. Her bent her head was down as she sobbed.
Athena didn't take another step and just stood there getting drenched in the rain as silent tears rolled down her eyes, she was no fool, she knew that heartless king had molested her sister, but he had just crossed the line.
She walked up to Rose angrily and as soon as Rose saw her she held Athena's shoulders.
"You.. You're alive, he kept his word... "
A hot slap landed on Rose's already red face, this was the first time she had hit Rose, causing Rose to hold her face in shock.
"Why... why didn't you listen to me, I fucking told you to stay clear of the beast!!" She yelled at Rose while the thunders roares as if they were supporting Athena in her anger.
"Y... You were going to die and... " Rose didn't complete her words as a sob escaped her lips, she hugged Athena as she cried at what that beast wearing a crown did to her... She could barely walk.
"I have had enough, we are leaving tonight!" Athena said while cleaning off the remnants of tears on her face. Without waiting for any protests she dragged Rose back to the servants quaters, some of the servants still paraded around but most of them were asleep by now and thanks to the heavy downpour, no one will suspect a thing.
There was awkward silence as Athena packed only the important thjnvs. Rose took the jar of fireflies and nothing else while Athena took a bag with some snacks and dry clothes and also some water and a pocket knife. After what Epirius did she knew this Kingdom was not safe for both of them so they would leave tonight by all costs.
