The male lead loves the villainess but she prefers the third wheel

Omalia is living in the world of a web novel she wrote in a life in a different world. She knows she will be heartbroken if she falls in love with the twin knight Marceau, so she closes her heart off to him. The threads of fate have different plans and she is once again entangled in a royal affair, except this time with his twin brother, the crown prince Landis. Who is the male lead in her story now?

Magic

A large icicle flew at Omalia. She quickly dodged it. Gilbrus hopped aside. Then suddenly she heard a sword unsheathe. She turned just in time to see Marceau point a sword at her.

"Omalia Loremirre. I hear you are quite good with the sword. Come spar with me."

He tossed her a sword.

Omalia grabbed it but did not unsheathe it. One blow would be enough. She circulated her magic inside her body to increase her speed. In one quick movement, she flashed toward Marceau. When she was close enough, she concentrated her magic into her arms and struck Marceu's hand. Before he knew it, his sword was on the ground.

Clap clap clap. Gilbrus walked toward them. "Fantastic, my lady. To think magic can be used this way to enhance your movements!"

Omalia curtsied. "Thank you, elder mage." Then she moved toward Marceau and extended her hand to help him up.

He had heard that she was talented with the sword, but he knew now that it was not skill that she had; it was her magic. Still, he was defeated by a young girl who had not yet had her coming of age ceremony. For a royal knight, this was an embarrassment. Nevertheless, he took her hand and allowed her to help him up. Her arms were slender and her hands soft and smooth. There was no way she could have defeated him with physical strength alone.

Marceau flashed her a boyish grin. "I admit my loss."

Omalia blushed. Be still, my heart! I cannot fall in love with this man again. "It's quite a greeting you have there, to come at me with magic and then brute force. I believe you did not do this just to test my strength. What is your motive, Prince Marceau?"

"Drop the title," Marceau said. "If your talents were extraordinary, I was hoping to recruit you as a knight."

The kingdom of Vestia did not discriminate between males and females when it came to protection of the country. Both men and women, regardless of status, were recruited into the royal army.

"Then what is your assessment, sir knight?"

"With training, you could be an asset to our team. Would you be interested in joining the royal army?"

In the web novel, she remembered that she had joined the army but because she had started later, she could not join the royal ranks with Marceau yet. She only saw him when he came to visit her. A war broke out between Vestia and Beshea. As she had not yet completed her knighthood training, she was given lower leveled soldier tasks while Marceau and more experienced soldiers marched out to defend the borders. It was during this war that Marceau met Althea. Omalia had decided since having those dreams, that this was not the path she would take. However, she did not want to spend her days merely taking up duties to become the next countess. She wanted to become stronger.

"I thank you for your offer, Marceau. However I am more interested in how my skills can be of use as a mage."

"Interesting," Gilbrus chimed in, "and what do you have in mind?"

"I was able to defeat Marceau in one burst, but that is the limit of my magic. I cannot do sustained battles as I have a small amount of mana. However I know of a mage who is very similar to myself." She glanced over at Gilbrus.

"Ha!" Gilbrus laughed. This young girl was centuries below his level. But indeed, once upon a time, before he became an elder mage, he too specialized in short bursts of high-powered magic. This led to his assassination career and his title. But that was a story for another time. "Your magic enhances your physical abilities, but my specialty is concentrated in pure magic."

"I can enhance magic as well," Olamia responded.

"Oh?" Gilbrus raised an eyebrow. If this was true, this could be a deadly weapon. Especially once she found her magic partner…. "Allow us to test your skills then. If your abilities are as much worth as you claim them to be, I may just consider taking you under my wing."

Omalia grinned. Simple.
