Psychic

While she was in her sealed state, she did not have the ability to accurately assess the identities of her intruders, she would only feel their rough humanoid shape and not their detailed appearance, she could also sense the energy that they emitted.

Such as someone emitting an ominous aura, she had also felt the hidden killing intent of an assassin, while she felt the energy of a mage inside the last one.

Undine was surprised because she had managed to see through the identity of Qianna.

She had seen through Qianna's identity as a half-human and half-spirit.

This was quite an interesting thing even for her, but she still hid the fluctuation of her emotions and did not let them see her surprise.

Her interest bred because halflings like Qianna were quite rare to find in her time.

The copulation between a spirit and a human is a forbidden act, but it could be said that emotions and feelings were things that a person had no control of.

Some spirits could not help but fall in love with humans, and the result of this forbidden act was an offspring that have half the blood of a spirit and half the blood of a human.

Qianna is one of such products that were born out of forbidden love.

There are also a few cases of people that have malicious intentions that abducted spirits hoping to produce the said halflings.

But they were met with disappointment because they had come to know of the strict condition for a halfling to be born.

The condition was that both the human and spirit should have an intense love for each other.

This condition made the people with malicious intentions to give up, but there are still some people who secretly kept a spirit by themselves, as for what purpose they have for keeping them? No one knows..

The purity and innate charm that the spirits were known for were the result for this horrible act to happen, but who could prevent themselves from being born to be good looking?

No one could prevent this, it's also inevitable for a malignant root to exist in a community, those born with malicious intentions would ultimately appear, its only a matter of time before they would slowly corrupt their surroundings.

Undine hated the atrocities that the humans had committed towards their fellow spirit race's members.

But she could not do anything but to swallow this grievance as she could not possibly wage a full blown war between spirits and humans can she?

Not to mention that their spirit race is on the verge of extinction and even if they had their past glory, they could not possibly compete with the humans especially their rapidly increasing overall prowess.

Both sides would only suffer tremendously if a war were to indeed happen between the two races.

Over time while she was sealed, Undine had completely discarded this hate as this type of mindset would only do her more harm than good.

But this did not mean that she had forgotten about this matter, she wanted to avenge those who had suffered but the revenge should be executed in a less bloody way.

If Qianna were not born of a water spirit bloodline, Undine would've missed her neglible spirit bloodline.

Her spirit bloodline was indeed too thin and sparse for Undine to naturally sense, she would've only thought of Qianna as not as bad looking as other humans if she were born out of other elemental spirit.

Her interest towards Qianna was piqued, she used telepathic communication on her.

[ You spirit halfling over there.. come here. ]

Qianna was taken aback and subconsciously looked at Undine who was looking at her with unquestionable gaze.

As if she was saying that she had to obey her words, she had no choice so she just silently nod to affirm.

She knew that Undine had discovered her identity as a half-human, half-spirit, this is because Undine had used her telepathic voice to talk to her.

If she had not, then she would've talked to her using her normal voice and not use her telepathy instead.

It has to be known that this type of telepathic communication is an exclusive talent limited to only the spirit race themselves.

Be it pure spirits or half spirits, they were able to naturally use this talent like they were drinking water.

Athough this telepathic communication was limited to spirits and could not be used on other races, it still nevertheless had its own convenience.

The first convenience was that they would be uninterrupted by others if they used their telepathy.

The other convenience is its discretion when dealing with confidential matters.

Humans had also learned how to communicate telepathically, they created a profession called Psychic, who were able to utilize the mental energies in their bodies.

Psychics were able to use their mental energies to influence and manipulate their target's thought processess.

They would be able to induce various emotions and thoughts inside their targets to confuse  and interrupt them of their thinking.

Telepathy is one of their specialty as well, but unlike spirits who use telepathy as an extension of their limbs to communicate with their kin.

Psychics were able to use telepathy to communicate to any creature as long as that creature has sufficient intelligence.

But the limitation to this was that they were not able to establish a two way telepathic communication with the others.

Even if that creature did have high intelligence as long as the creature was not a Psychic themself, they would not be able to reply to the Psychic telepathically and could only listen passively to the side.

With how strong humans repeatedly appearing in their ranks, it would only be a matter of time before they could successfully fix and mend this flaw of Psychics.

Even Undine was fearful and did not look forward for that thing to happen, if the humans had really fixed the flaw of Psychics then..

They would be able to receive a huge boost in their battle prowess, this is especially so in war and battlefields.

Psychics being able to command a large area and soldiers being able to communicate with each other, how terrifying was that?

They might even be able to surpass the Spirit Race on their peak with just this variable alone.

Qianna hearing Undine's command in telepathy made her feel quite a bit of shock.

She did not, well, she expected for her to detect her identity as Undine was a spirit herself.

She knows that it's only a matter of time so she wasn't that shocked when she realized that she had been seen through.

She felt quite nostalgic in fact.

She remembered her mother's teachings when she was still a child, the corner of her eyes turned red due to her intense emotions.

Thinking about her late mother would only make her feel grief and sadness so she shook her head fiercely to dispel her sadness.

'This won't do, it's not the time to think about mother so I should avoid crying in front of them.'

She used her telepathic ability to talk to Undine and nervously asked while walking towards her.

[ This humble servant greets the Great Water Spirit Undine! W-what might miss need from me? ] ( Author's Note: Telepathic conversations would be enclosed in square brackets from now on. )

She had placed herself in a lower position due to their difference in status and bloodlines.

Her mother taught her that spirits particularly followed a strict rule in their bloodline hierarchy.

Those of the lower bloodline levels are required to respect the decisions and commands of those higher than them.

They are not forced to do anything against their will, they were free to do anything as long as they would not show disrespect towards those higher than them.

Generations of spirits followed this rule that their Spirit Progenitor had established, and even though a long time has passed, they had still followed the rule partly because of their respect towards their Progenitor and partly because the rule had not affected nor oppressed anyone.

They just need to respect their seniors and those higher than them, what's so wrong with that? Nothing.

If you want to be respected, then it is simple, become stronger and you would be respected.

This sounded easy but one had to know that the sublimation of a spirit's bloodline is extremely hard to attain.

One had to undergo various setbacks and tribulations before they would be able to reach their next bloodline stage.

The bloodline stages were categorized based on the thickness of a spirit's bloodline.

The lowest stage would be called Inferior Spirits, next would be the Lesser Spirits, then the Greater Spirits...

To advance past the Greater Spirit stage, a spirit must undergo a set of tribulations in their racial altar.

Each elemental spirit would have different sets of trials such as Fire Spirits would get the tribulation of Water, Ice, and vice versa.

This applies to other spirits as well, they would undergo tribulation of their elemental weakness.
