"Ladies and Gents. I welcome you all to our Felim Jada auction house," the auctioneer said his voice reaching every corner of the auction house. Sound magic, I thought. He had a small magic tool in his hand that enabled him to make his voice louder. "To all our guests may you enjoy todays' auction as well." He made a low bow before adorning a wide smile.
"Now for first item. We have the White lotus jade!" he announced excitedly stretching his hand towards the right. A young woman walked onto the stage with a white jade shaped like a lotus on a green cushion. The jade was not that big but it emitted a faint white light.
"For those who don't know the item, it is a flower that is only found in the dark forest. Due to abundant mana residing in the forest this flower once plucked, turns into a jade." His voice had a way of drawing people in and getting them excited. "With its revival properties," the man smiled as he talked about the object, "each petal can save a fully grown man from the brink of death. Bidding starts at 40,000 taks."
I watched as the other participants scrambled to bid the winning amount. A knock came from the door and Dinole opened it. The man who led us here walked back in with a trolley full of refreshments. He set up the table and left with a bow. Dinole grabbed a bunch of cookies and stuffed them into his mouth. "Deesh ish dooff," he said incoherently as he kept on trying to stuff more cookies in. "One at a time Dino!" Chanthy scolded and Jaram laughed. A smile formed on my face as I watched them. They had a way of making things lively.
I poured myself a cup of tea as the item got sold for 170,000 taks. I didn't think it would raise that much.
"Next up we have Nam Joon's healer staff. One of the best healers known after graduating from the academy. This was the very staff he used when he was a student," the man paused watching the awe in the audiences' faces as the staff was brought onto the stage.
"Who is he?" I asked. The three of them stared at me in shock. "How can you not…"
"He is one of the best healers to leave the academy. He now works in the top guild, Jangi guild as their main healer. He's the person all healers look up to," Chanthy explained excitedly.
"Bid it."
"Huh! Wont it be too much?" she asked concerned. "Bid, you want it right?"
"Now he has decided that it's time for it to find a new owner. The staff can only be equipped by healers and it is known for its amplification of mana buff. Bidding starts at 200,000 taks," the man said and the audience responded in raising their paddles making bids. I glanced at Chanthy and saw that she was hesitant so I raised the paddle.
"500,000 taks from VIP room A7," the man announced.
"Room A7?"
"The one for the royal family?"
"No, you idiot, that's room A8."
"So, who is in room A7?"
"What's their status? How did they get the room?"
Questions floated all around the auction house that people forgot for a second to keep on bidding for the item. All the eyes were facing our balcony but none of them could see us because of the blockade that had been placed at the balcony. We could see the outside but they could not see inside.
"500,000 taks going once," the auctioneer's voice brought the people back to their senses and one brave person bid for the item against us. "550,000 taks."
I raised the paddle lighting up the room once more. "600,000 taks."
The battle between the two of us started.
"650,000 taks."
"700,000 taks."
"750,000 taks. Next increment is 100,000 taks."
I raised the tag once more and Chanthy rushed to me. "It's becoming too much Elysia."
"It's not," I say with a yawn as the auctioneer called out my price.
"850,000 taks."
The man who was bidding against us raised his paddle angrily. It was amusing.
"950,000 taks."
Not wanting to waste any more time I raised the paddle twice making the room light up twice.
The auctioneer nodded, "Increment has doubled, 1,150,000 taks from VIP room A7." I grinned, he was a smart one. The man glared at our room but didn't raise his paddle any more.
"Sold to room A7 for 1,150,000 taks."
The next item didn't interest me as much. It was an egg that belonged to the snow eagle. It was an easy beast to tame if you were an experienced beast tamer. Since none of us were beast tamers the egg was of no interest.
After that they brought up an armor made from the skin of fire lizards. It was a bright armor that had high fire resistance and could not be cut by ordinary blades. "Elysia, pretty please? Can I get it?" Dinole asked staring at me with his best puppy eyes. I nodded and he grabbed the paddle shouting, "1,000,000 taks for the armor." The entire auction house fell silent. The bidding hadn't even started. I couldn't help but laugh and Chanthy hit his head a couple of times. "you idiot, Whats wrong with you?"
"It's fine, Chanthy. It's entertaining."
"See, Elysia said it's fine," he said with a smug look on his face.
"Is that a bid from room A7?" the auctioneer asked confused. He had been told that special guests were in room A7 and he should treat them akin to royalty. The room lit up once more confirming his queries. "Bid at 1,000,000 taks from room A7," he announced. He was curious about their identity but that wasn't part of his job so he put the thoughts aside.
"How can they bid so much from the start?"
"Do they plan on dominating the auction?"
The fire armor was sold to room A7. The Sundragon sword was sold to room A7. The Phoenix sword, an item that Elysia used in her past sold to room A7. None of the items bought were below 1,000,000 taks. The entire audience was shocked. When the beast core was brought onto the stage, they awaited the unknown guests in room A7 to make a bid but they did not. Seeing as if they finally had a chance the nobles did their bests in bidding for the item they could finally get their hands on.
"Lastly, the item that will bring an end to this auction is a special item. No one knows its purpose or how it can be used. The only information known is that it's an artifact that belongs to the Phantom clan."
A small figurine of a shadow on top of a black island was placed on a red cushion and brought onto the stage. Once the name Phantom clan was mentioned, all three of them stared at me.
"Elysia, does that belong to your people?" Jaram asked. I nodded. I could feel the power of my clan in the statue. A power known as Narelka. The power of the shadows. I leaned forward and watched the auction keenly. So, this is what that man traded together with the mask, I thought touching the mask that adorned my face. I still had no clue as to where he found my clans' relics but I wasn't going to let anyone else get it. It belonged to my people. It was only right that it returned to its rightful owners.
I raised the paddle and the auctioneer called out my price.
"1,800,000 taks."
When the rest of the audience saw our room was bidding, some began fighting harder trying to at least win something. Getting impatient I shouted the same price the captain bought me for. "20,000,000 taks." Jaram stared at me as if I had gone mad and Dinole's jaw was wide open. Chanthy covered her mouth so as not to gasp. They were overreacting. I glanced down at the audience and it was silent. Was it really such a large sum?
"Going once from room A7," the auctioneer said after regaining his wits. No one dared to bid against me and the auction ended after winning all that I had wanted.
