"We need to get you inside," I was beyond worried now.
In thirty seconds, Luke had gone from having a fever to nearly freezing. To my recollection, I'd never pushed myself this far, but I'd used more energy than I had more than once. Every time I'd used a healing spell on myself after one of Ricky's beatings with barely any food in my stomach, I risked some level of this. Yet, I wasn't sure if a good meal and a few days of sleep would be enough to undo what Luke had done. I didn't know what to do.
'He'll become addicted,' Hel warned, her impatience growing. 'Hurry, let's go.'
It sounded callous, but I heard the urgency in her voice. She'd insisted the hunt would help everyone. I don't know how that would work, but Hel believes it. However, I can't leave Luke here while I run off to get Ivan's attention. It felt wrong, and besides, the hunt was more than just walking up to my mate and saying, fuck me.
