C 7. Small Eye within Iris

Abe's change of emotional status triggered something in his eye. So, I stared at his blue eyes, beginning to perceive something different about them.

Amina started pestering him on, when were they going to the park?…. As for me, I leaned back and indirectly stared at his eyes. From my peripheral vision, Rooney Zhen and Mharoni Dohan noticed my odd look on Abe, but they watched and did not interfere nor ask me why.

He managed to convince Amina that they will go to the park immediately after lunch. The conversation topic changed to newbies, and how they usually act on their first day in this hall. I was one of their points of reference. From there I learned, new faces will be seen coming almost every week.

Then, they discuss the Authority that governed the facility: how it operates, its goals and what we, the subjects, think of it. And if there is any possibility of us getting out of here.

Well, most of them are optimistic enough to believe that if we can control our power thoroughly, and the scientists excavate what they want to uncover and understand about the abilities, we will be released.

Or, we might work with the facility for a time to compensate for their service, on helping us understand our powers.

On this topic, I was asked for my opinion, but I just say I hope it will be the case. Abe has realized my unusual look at him, but he ignored it. Though, I pretend to show I wasn't staring at him,

The background conversation shifts from how the authority in this facility reacts to violence, to discussing the most absurd ability of some people. In their discussion they said, there was a person that could manipulate his poop and urine!... (°^°) Damn!!

Due to my intense stare, my brain gradually filtered the background noise, until all the noises were dull to my ears.

All this happened within five minutes. I would break my gaze on him if he looked at me, or when I was asked a question or my opinion. Sometimes I will just look away to rest my straining eyes.

As my eyes concentrated on his blue eyes, my mind blurry all other things in the surrounding. The eye sclera and the cornea became prominent. As if the eye was enlarged before my eyes: it was not, but it became crystal clear as if I zoomed it with a microscope.

The sclera and cornea look normal, but the iris and the pupil were the sources of the difference. Focusing on the iris is like I was zooming in to the eye, and a formless force is pulling me toward the pupil. The pupil shrinks and enlarges due to iris adjustment to regulate light passing and distance.

Now that my concentration is on the iris, its colour is no longer blue, it's INDIGO.

Within or between the lines of the iris there is something in the shadows: within the indigo shadows. I looked with more concentration. Gradually, between the lines became more clear as if peering in a dark well that is being illuminated slowly by a moonlight.

It opens!!!

'Another eye opened within the iris! And it sucks me in! In a fraction of a second, I pushed myself out. In reality, though, I pushed the table with both hands, but because the table was fixed in place, I pushed myself backwards. My back hit the floor first, then my head and I glided….

It was not fear, I was just trying to pull myself out of the suction force that the miniature iris eye exhibits. Maybe I felt no fear because I'm facing something worse: my nightmares!

After sitting down on the floor, I shook my head to reduce the dizziness I was feeling due to hitting my head on the cold hard floor. People around were discussing what happened. Some said I was pushed by one of my sitting colleagues.

When I looked up, Amina was standing at the table; Mharoni was also standing, leaning forward, looking at me, but Rooney and Abe were seated. All watching me.

"You have eyes related powers, and they can see things that shouldn't be seen," Rooney said.

"wasn't that obvious?" Abe asked.

"No it wasn't, things are different for everyone. I may have a tail but that did not mean the tail is my actual power."

"Big bro Rooney! You have a tail? Let me see it! Please please please!" Amina quickly said excited, leaning closer to his face. Almost touching his forehead with hers.

He pushed her away and said awkwardly, "I don't have a tail. I was just making an example!"

When they were making fun of tails, I stood, dragged my chair back, ignoring all the clatter and chatter about what pushed me. Some think it was Abe because we have had some disagreements before.

Amina sat on the table centre and folded her legs, observing me. "What did you see?" She asked.

I pass my fingers through my hair backwards, feeling the accumulated sweat moisture, thinking about what I saw. "I saw an eye within his iris, beneath the pupil."

"Hmm, the eyes looked back at you." Abe had this pondering face before he continued, "your eyes must have a tint of true sight."

"What does that mean?" I asked.

Abe removed his glasses and placed them on the table. He looked at me before he used his finger and tapped on his left eyeball. His tap on the cornea changed the iris colour from blue to indigo.

Additional eye blink underneath the pupil. It was different, its sclera is dark indigo almost black, its iris is like a rotating black disc, and the pupil is too small for me to describe.

Seeing the eye this time, I did not feel the force. I leaned forward observing it. It produces a feeling of loneliness and needs exposure. The small eye closed and Abe's big eye returned to normal.

"These are the points of my ability," he said, rubbing his disturbed eye, "they are individual entities, and also part of me?" He put back his glasses and continued, "when I was born, I was without eyes. The socket was hollow, nothing inside, but thorough research shows a tiny little eyeball, the size of a tiny grain at the edge of each socket!"
