It was August and nearly two months into his holidays that Harry received his Hogwarts letter for the Booklists for his second year as well as results for his first year exams.

Harry slowly opened them, he was not overly concerned as he knew that he had done very well in the exams, the letter read,

Dear Mr. Potter,

Given below are the results of your first year exams.

The Pass grades are:

O - Outstanding

E - Exceeds Expectations

A - Acceptable

The Fail Grades are:

P - Poor

D - Dreadful

T - Troll

Harry Potter has achieved the following grades:

Transfiguration - O

Charms - O

Potions - O

Defense Against the Dark Arts - O

Herbology - O

Astronomy - O

History of Magic - O

The top rankings of the first year students were as follows:

1st rank - Harry Potter

2nd rank - Padma Patil

3rd rank - Daphne Greengrass

4th rank - Terry Boot and Hermione Granger

5th rank - Tracey Davis

P. S :- Harry Potter has scored the highest scores ever by a first year Hogwarts student.

Also included was a list of school supplies for the next year.

Harry was distracted from his musing by his mom asking, " Harry, how did you score, common tell us?."

While his father seeing Harry's musing assumed the worst and said, " Harry don't need to worry even if you scored not so well in a few subjects I myself was pants at Potions and History of Magic, don't worry and just show us your results. "

Harry just laughed slightly and handed them the results.

James just looked at the results and shook his head in dismay saying, " he is definitely your son alright, " handing over the letter to his wife while looking funnily at his son.

Lily shook her head at James antics and read the letter and was extremely pleased with Harry's results and when she read the note at the end about being the highest scoring first year ever, she jumped to her feet and rushed to Harry and hugged him hard. " You definitely got your brains from me sweetheart, you broke my record , I held the record on highest score in first year exams for the last 22 years. This calls for a party, Harry what do you want sweetheart? I am so proud of you, " she exclaimed.

Harry shook his head and said, "Mom I want nothing, and the exams themselves were not that hard, " kissing his mother.

" But, I wouldn't mind learning about some advanced potions and the basics of enchanting, if you wouldn't mind?"

Lily just shook her head saying, " of course sweetheart, you already have a solid grasp of nonverbal magic , and basic enchanting is all about enforcing your will and pouring your magic into an object to have it perform a function that you envisioned and that is something that I can teach you at your current level, higher level enchanting requires atleast a mastery in Charms and some knowledge of Alchemy and rituals. And as for Advanced Potions is concerned I see no problem, you are performing excellently in our lessons, so I will teach you a few complex potions by the time Hogwarts starts for your second year. "

Lily found herself in a crushing hug as Harry embraced her saying, " Mom, you are the best".

The next weekend they all went shopping in Diagon Alley and Harry watched the disgusted glare both his mothers were giving Lockhart's books and was happy to see that they weren't fans of that prancing peacock and Harry learned that Lockhart was a classmate of his parents and was infatuated with his mother Lily and she had cursed him badly when he tried to forcibly make a move on her, that did it for Harry as he decided that Lockhart was going to suffer at his hand, before he destroyed him by wiping out his memory entirely.

The rest of the month passed quickly as he carried on his spell practice and physical exercises so as to not get rusty and even learnt a few new spells that he found interesting in the Potter Library and learnt the basics of Enchanting from his mother.

Harry had also started learning inanimate to animate transfiguration.

He spent a few days at Terry's house, " Terry was a single child and his mother was a healer while his father was the Lord Boot ". Harry had to say that he enjoyed his time with Terry's family, his mother was a very caring woman and his father was a jovial person who reminded Harry of his own father.
