He Is The Lord

He was called the bringer of end times.

He was called the harbinger of destruction.

He became the first and survived until the last.

He is The Lord Dante King, and this is his tale.

**World:** Unknown

**Age:** Unknown

**Date:** Unknown

On a battlefield that stretched beyond imagination stood one man, surrounded by his legions of undead and hell spawn.

This man, covered from head to toe in black metallic armor, stood before the last surviving being on this doomed planet.

The hero knelt on one knee in front of The Lord. His armor shattered, his sword broken. His spirit left with only a fleeting trace of life.

With blood coming from the corner of his mouth, the hero looked at the being before him, compelled to ask.

"Why? Why have you destroyed this world? Every man, woman, and child lies dead at your feet. Why have you done this? So much death and destruction, all for what?"

The man, with a deep, gravelly voice, responded to the hero on his knees before him.

"Because you took her from me! This world stole the only woman that I have ever loved. For this grave offense, this world must drown in an ocean of blood and bones."

The hero was stunned with this response.

"You slaughtered an entire world and doomed us to oblivion all for one woman?"

The man in midnight black armor responded to the nameless hero.

"Only for a woman! This world took her from me. Your own rulers, in their selfish, self-serving interests, killed a light that should have illuminated the darkness in this world. Now I have given everything I am to avenge my love. I've sacrificed my life, my heart, and my very soul. Everything that I am and could have ever been has been given to her. In exchange for the power that now condemns this world to oblivion."

The hero now understood that his world was destroyed because of the most powerful thing in creation: the power of love.

"Ha ha, so love saved you, but in the end, it also destroyed you, Dante King. Nothing remains of this world now but shattered bones and ruins. What kind of end will you face as the last man standing?"

The Lord Dante King said his final words to the hero.

"Hero, I began as nothing and will return to nothing, but this time, this world will return to nothing with me!"

With this final statement, Dante lifted his sword into the air. As he did so, the screams of a billion damned souls echoed into the night.

The red blade moved swiftly towards the neck of the hero. But not before he could utter one last sentence.

"Dante, you're mad!"

The rest of his words would never be spoken as the hero's head fell to the ground.

With this last death, the soul of his beloved is avenged. The legions of undead and damned that surrounded Dante began to recede like a tide in fear of their lord.

With his mission now completed, what fate would befall them?

Despite their fleeing, they soon vanished into dark black smoke. These endless demons and undead turned to shadows that soon vanished into the shadow that the sun cast onto the body of Dante King.

"Finally, my vengeance is complete!"

As he stood before an endless tide of dead bodies as far as the eye could see, Dante stood alone. For the first time, he truly kept his promise. He is the last man standing.

But at this moment, something that should never have been possible happened.

An unknown female voice from deep within the void spoke.

"Dante, you really did keep your promise to me. You gave me your heart and everything that came with it, including this world and its endless souls. It truly was a delightful feast."

Hearing this voice, Dante King looked up into the sky.

This is the voice of my lost love, Freya Valmore.

Dante stood before a vast tear in the void that appeared before him.

This void sucked Dante King into it along with this dead world. Whatever entity that reached out to Dante seemed to want to finish its meal. Thus, one more world vanished into the abyss.
