The guild

(authors note: hello there my faithful readers. I'm sorry that I had to move where I posted this but by no means am I dropping this. I enjoy writing this too much to drop it right now. hope yall have a wonderful day and tell me what you think of the chapter. and if you have any questions I will answer them as long as it doesn't spoil too much.)

Nix woke up to the smell of food and the chatter of people. Getting up nix puts all his clothes on and heads out of his room.

" Hello, there sir I hope you had an enjoyable night at our inn. I will bring out breakfast for you in just a moment." The same person at the counter said.

Nix sat down at a table looking around. A couple of minutes later the inn clerk came by and dropped off the food." I hope you enjoy our food sir."

Nix looks down at his plate. There was bacon, scrambled eggs, and a biscuit all freshly made on the plate.

Nix couldn't help himself and ate it all in a couple of minutes.' It's been so long since I've had proper food. All I've had was burnt meat cooked over a campfire.'

Nix was in absolute bliss from the taste of the food. Nix quickly drank his water and thanked the inn clerk.

Leaving the inn, nix asked around where the guild was.

Thankfully the people of this city were nicer than the last one he was in.

---------(30 minutes later)------------

With the help of some people, nix finally found the guild. Entering the guild, what greeted nix didn't surprise him at all.

Rowdy loud adventures were celebrating a successful mission. And there were also those getting over the loss of a companion.

Nix approached the counter with the shortest line. After waiting a couple of minutes it was finally his turn.

" Hello there sir, how may I help you?" The guild employee said.

" Hi, I was wanting to become an adventure," Nix replied.

"Then you've come to the right place." The guild employee pulls out a paper from below the counter and gives them to nix." I just need you to sign everything on this paper and we are good to go."

Nix looks at the paper. They were just wanting to know what his name was, where he came from, and what was his specialty

Nix signed his name and said he came from absodia, and his specialty was up close combat.

Nix handed the paper over to the guild employee. They looked over it and nodded their head.

" Alright there is only one thing left to do, and that is to determine what rank you are."

The ranks went from F-S. F is the weakest while s are the strongest.

" The highest you can rank up in this test is D rank. To rank up higher you need to build trust with the guild, and prove yourself worthy for your rank."

Nix nodded his head.

" Good now follow me and we will begin."

Nix followed the employee into a room with an orb in the middle.

" If you please place your hand on this orb it will determine how much mana you have."

Nix followed the instructions, placing his hand on the orb. The orb glowed brightly.

The employee wrote down the results and said" Very good. you have the same amount of mana as a B-rank mage. Now follow me to the next room."

Nix followed the employee again to a big room with an arena in the middle.

"This here will determine how experienced you are in combat. I will write down the results the proctor gives."

" Wait proc-"

Before nix could reply he ducked down avoiding the blow aiming for his head and jumped away.

"Well well well, this rookie has potential." A voice called out.

Nix looked at the person that attacked him. It was an old man with grey messy hair with red streaks. His eyes were red and his face gave off a confident smirk.

"Had enough to look at boy? I think it's time to see what you can do."

The old man jumps at nix swinging a wooden sword, but nix summoned his scythe and blocked it with the pole.

The old man gives a battle-hungry expression and relentlessly swings at nix. Nix barely able to block or dodge any of the attacks getting hit now and again throws his scythe up in the air and swings a wide punch at the old man.

The old man gives a disappointed look and dodges the punch. But he didn't see the shadowy string come at him.

The shadowy string touching the old man explodes and wraps around his chest.

"Wha-"

Before the old man could question what happened Nix pulls the old man to him tripping him over his foot.

Nix catches the falling scythe and puts the blade against the old man's neck.

"So what do you think now?" Nix says victoriously.

The old man is stunned before bursting out laughing"bwahahahaha, looks like you beat me, kid. It's been a while since I've lost a fight."

Nix lets go of the old man and helps him stand up.

"I give this kid A rank in combat. What's your name kid? I'm zion nice to meet you" The old man says happily

" I'm nix, nice to meet you too."

The guild employee walks over and says" You are quite skilled nix. you got the highest rank you could earn. You are now a D rank adventure come back tomorrow for your adventure badge."

Nix thanks the employee and zion before leaving the guild. Nix walks back to the same inn and pays for another night. Meditating, nix thinks about the fight with zion for the rest of the day before going to sleep.
