First guild missions

The morning was the same as yesterday. Waking up to people talking and the smell of delicious food.

Nix walked down to get his breakfast. Today's breakfast was fried sausage with fried eggs and toast.

Finishing his breakfast Nix Walken back to the guild.

Arriving at the guild Nix walks up to the counter.

"I'm here to pick up my badge."

"AH yes. You must be Nix. Congratulations on getting a D rank on the test. Here is your badge."

The clerk puts the badge on the table. Nix picks it up and looks at it. It wasn't anything special. It had a picture of his face, his name, and what rank he was.

Nix looks back at the clerk" Thank you."

Nix walks away and goes to the board listing missions. Nix looks at the board that has D-rank missions listed on it.

The missions listed are mostly doing jobs that people usually don't want to do or killing weak beasts such as goblins or slimes.

Nix took a mission for goblin subjugation and slime subjugation. Nix walks back to the counter and puts the missions on the counter.

"I'd like to take these missions."

The clerk takes the papers off the counter and looks at them."For proof of kill bring the right ear of each goblin. And for the slimes, bring their core for proof of the kill."

"Thank you for the information. Do you know where these monsters are usually found?"

"The goblins are usually found in the southeast. The slimes are found near the lake straight south."

Nix nodded and thanked the clerk.

Nix decided to kill the goblins first. Walking in the forest Nix encounters the first group of goblins. There were five goblins.

Nix sank into the shadows. approaching the unsuspecting goblins.

When Nix was beside the goblins he jumped out of the shadow with his scythe. Swinging his scythe Nix cuts three of the five goblins in half.

The goblins screech I'm surprised. Nix takes the opportunity to throw a rope made of shadows at one of the goblins. The rope connects and wraps around the goblin. Nix throws it at the other goblin, knocking both of them over. Nix kills them both by slamming his scythe into both goblins.

The fight over Nix collects the five ears and begins to walk south to the lake.

Nix finally arrives at the lake. It is a beautiful lake that reflects the sun perfectly to have the right shine to it.

After Nix is done admiring the beauty of the lake three slimes approached Nix.

One of the slimes jumped at Nix. Nix just cuts the slime in half. The other two slimes jump at Nix. Nix just swings his scythe again cutting both slimes in half.

Nix disappointedly thinks 'That was easier than I thought.'

Something felt wrong. So without even thinking Nix steps to the left avoiding the two slimes that jumped at him. Nix takes a couple of steps away.

There are now six slimes.

'So physical attacks don't work. The only way to kill a slime is to destroy its core. But if I destroy the core I won't get paid for killing them. So I have to infuse magic to kill them.'

Nix leaps at the slimes with his scythe infused with magic, covering the blade in darkness.

Swinging the infused blade at the slimes he kills them all leaving only the cores left.

Nix collects the cores and walks to Riveria.

--------(1 hour 30 minutes later)-----------

Nix is back at the guild at the counter turning in the assignment.

"Here you go sir, 45 gold coins. 3 coins for each goblin ear, and 5 with each slime core." The clerk says giving him the money.

"It was too easy. Any chance I could take a higher-ranked mission?"

"Yes, there is a way. If you want to take on a higher-ranked mission you have to party with someone able to take on the mission. If you want a B-ranked mission, you need to be in a party with a B-ranked adventure."

"I see. Thank you for the information."

With that Nix leaves the guild and goes back to the inn. When Nix returns to his room he thinks about who to party with to get higher-ranked missions. For now, Nix will think about this later.

Nix lays down in his bed and goes to sleep.

I think I'm getting a lot better

I know for sure I'm better than the first three chapters were

they weren't bad but some of my friends pointed out things that just made me cringe
