"Where do you think your own parents fit within that range?" Lucas asked.
"Truthfully? I think they fall somewhere in the middle. As much as I'd like to tell you their story has always been one of great love, I don't see any point in lying." Celia pursed her lips in thought. "They seem to be rather good friends now, which has made me happy to see. Especially because Mother swore they fought like feral cats in their early years together."
"Really? They fought?"
"So she says. I don't remember seeing any of that, so they were obviously good at hiding their battles. I do remember stumbling across Father with one of his mistresses when I was young, though." she winced. "That was awkward for everyone involved."
Lucas smiled sympathetically. "I'm sure it was. That's not something I'd enjoy having to explain to a child of mine."
