Saying goodbye (30)

"Hello dear what can I do for you?" His mother said.

"Why would dad say I was not his son and that you had an affair?" He asked.

"Oh dear, I never cheated on your father. The truth is he never wanted another child. Because of a mixup in medication I got pregnant again. Your father was so mad that he got sniped as soon as you were born."

"So how is that my fault and why does he treat me so unfairly."

"Marcus, I don't know. I tried my hardest to make him back off but he is a stubborn man. One day he will regret what he is doing."

"Mom, I want to change my name to Jensen."

"My maiden name?"

"Yes, Grandpa Jensen was always very nice to me. He was the one that encouraged me to go into computers."

"Do what ever you need to do to be happy son. Know that I love you very much."

After he hung up he pulled up the application for a name change and filled it out. When it was acknowledged recieved he was given a court date to appear.

He then went to work on his next project. Hillvally Amusement Park.

He worked most of the night watching Ariel. Soon she seen her having trouble breathing and he called the nurse.

"Everything will be alright. She should wear oxygen while she sleeps. When she goes home we will give her a cpap to use at night. Unfortunately her lungs will have trouble sometimes."

Marcus knew all that. Hiny had already discussed this. He just felt bad everytime she was in pain.

The next morning he was woke by Ariel walking around the room. "Don't do that let he help you." He said going to her side.

"I can do it myself." She pushed him away.

"Ariel, please you need to let me take care of you now." He then force her to take a chair.

"Get out"

"What?"

"GET OUT!!!" She yelled.

"Honey, I'm just trying to help you."

"Get out, get out, get out!!!!"

He slowly walked out of the room and called Hiny.

Ariel then felt the tightness in her chest as tears came down her face. She managed to make it over to her bed to put the oxygen on. As she lay there she felt a little bad for yelling at him but he just did not understand she needed to be herself.

Hiny came right away and Marcus told him what had happened so he went in to check on her.

"How are you feeling?" he asked.

"Ok, Can I ask you something?" she asked.

"Ask away" He said listening to her lungs.

"Are you my Doctor?"

"Yes, why do you ask?"

"So that means if I ask you not to talk about me to anyone you won't?"

"That's correct."

"Then I don't want Marcus or anyone to know how I am doing. I also want no visitors just staff. Also let your staff know not to talk about me to anyone."

"Ok, Can I ask why?"

"They treat me like a baby. I have worked hard for myself all my life. I can take care of myself. I was better off when they did not fight over me. When can I leave here?"

"A few more days."

"Also I want to pay for my own care do not let them pay my bills."

"If that is your wish then I will fulfill it. Can I tell Marcus why he can not come back in?" he asked.

She nodded her head yes as he turned up the O2 level and left.

"Follow me we need to talk Richie, Harper from now on no one but staff in Miss Thomas's room."

He walked down to his office followed by Marcus. Marcus took a seat. "How is she?"

"I can't tell you that. But tell me about Ariel when you first met her."

"She was breathtaking. She was not like any girl I had ever known. She worked 5 or 6 jobs, I don't remember exactly, to save money to leave a homeless shelter for her own place. She never would take any help unless she could pay it back. Even when she had to quit being Lily's nanny I tried to pay her for the whole month but she only took the week she worked and sent the rest back. When she wasn't paid for two shows she told me it was fine. She needed to compensate for having left without notice. She was really strong."

"Tell me about her now?"

"She is the same I guess but her body is weak and I need to look after her. She does not need to work as hard. I just want to make things easier on her, I don't want to lose her."

"If she is the same as before then by pushing her you lost her. Give her time to heal at her pace not yours. She asked me not to give you anymore information on her."

"I understand." Marcus got up and walked out. When he reached her door he asked, "Harper can you get my things? I am not allowed in now."

"Sure" Harper knocked and walked in, "Miss Thomas can I get Richie's things?"

"It's all over there." she pointed.

"Are you pushing him away?" he asked.

She just shook her head.

Harper left and gave Marcus his things. Marcus left with out another word.

Not soon after Lily and Harrison came by to see Ariel and say goodbye to her.

"Sorry no one can go in" Harper said.

"She is expecting us." Harrison said.

Why the two men were arguing Lily slipped by and ran over to Ariel.

"How did you get in?" Ariel asked.

"I was sneaky. I came to say goodbye. Daddy and I are going home by a plane. Are you sick again?" Lily asked.

She help Lily up on the bed. "No, I just wanted to rest. I'm sorry I forgot you were coming."

Harper then came in, "Sorry miss she slipped by me."

"I'll let her stay but only her." Ariel said.

"Ok miss." He then went back out.

"When do you leave?" she asked.

"As soon as we get to the plane. Daddy said we can only visit thirty minutes then we had to go."

"I'm glad you came and was sneaky. Let me tell you a story. Once there was a princesses named Lily who loved to sing and dance. She only had her father the King and her brave knight Marcus to watch over her because Queen Kimberly had passed away and now was an Angel in heaven. One day she was playing by the sea when a strange fish washed up. Then she realized it was a Mermaid. She help the Mermaid and dried her off and to her surprise the Mermaid had gotten legs. The Princess loved the Mermaid very much and tried to keep her from going home. This made the Mermaid sad for she missed her family. The Princess did not like the Mermaid being sad because she really love the Mermaid so she set her free. Every year the Mermaid would come back and spend a whole week with her thank the Princess for her love."

"Your going home too?" Lily said looking a little sad.

"Yes, but like the Mermaid in my story I will come back and we will celebrate our brithdays together for a whole week. Ok?"

"Ok, I love you Ariel and not because you are a Mermaid because you are Ariel."

Ariel started crying at how much this little girl touches her heart.

They said goodbye and she told Lilly she could still call anytime she wanted.
