Unforgiven

"Todoroki, you have another brother?" Izuku asked his friend.

"The four of you seem pretty close." Fuyumi said to Shoto. "I'm surprised you didn't tell them about Toya."

"It's not exactly an easy topic to talk about." Todoroki replied. 

You noticed the sad look in both of their eyes, and you frowned. Todoroki's response and the fact that Toya didn't show up at all during dinner made you realize that he may have departed from this world. 

"Uh, if it's too painful to talk about Toya, you don't have to tell us anything!" You immediately said.

"No, it's alright." Fuyumi tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Natsu had always gotten along with Toya... they used to play together a lot. It happened right around the time when mother was admitted to the hospital... as a result, her condition got even worse, and she stopped seeing Shoto, too... but now, she's gotten over it. She's started seeing Shoto again... and ever since, our family has been moving forward. Natsu is the only one... who can't seem to let bygones be bygones. To this day, he believes, that it was dad who killed him."

"Well, I guess that explains his attitude." Katsuki said.

You remembered how angsty Natsu acted during dinner and when he left all of a sudden. He's grieving the loss of his older brother. In his own way. This made you think about Lumine and you 

"Hey, are you okay?" Fuyumi asked you. You raised your head, seeing everyone in the room with their worried eyes on you.

"Y-yeah!" Smiling, you reassured them. "You telling us about Toya just made me think about someone else I was very close to! I really am okay, but thanks for worrying!"

"Oh. I'm sorry for bringing up painful memories."

"No! You didn't do anything wrong, so you don't need to apologize."

You felt a hand grasp your own and you squeeze it, knowing that the hand belongs to Katsuki. He's short-tempered and foul-mouthed, but he cares about your well-being. Endeavor then enters the room.

"Alright, it's about time I send you all back to UA." The pro hero said.

Hearing that, you and your friends got up, grabbed your things, and exited the house with Endeavor. Outside, the car is waiting for you all and Fuyumi came to see you off.

"Thank you so much for the meal!" You and Izuku said simultaneously, bowing to Fuyumi. 

"Hey, don't forget to give me that mapo tofu recipe." Katsuki mentioned. 

"Don't worry." Todoroki replied. "I'll have her text it to me."

"Sorry things ended up like this!" Fuyumi said. "Let's talk about school next time!"

"Fuyumi." Endeavor calls out to his daughter as his driver opens the car door for him. "Thank you."

Endeavor sits at the front passenger seat and the Todoroki sister smiles. Before you and Izuku could enter the car next, Fuyumi stops both of you.

"Midoriya. Yagi." She takes your hand and Izuku's hand. "Thank you for being Shoto's friends."

You and Izuku glanced at each other and smiled. You told Fuyumi that the pleasure is all yours and got in the car. 

🌻

"I'm gonna need you lot to strengthen up." Endeavor tells you and the boys during the drive. "From now on, in addition to weekends... I'm gonna have you work at least two weekdays per week, if your schedule allows it."

"Oh, Kirishima and the others also had something similar, didn't they?" Todoroki asked. 

"Yeah, that's right." You nodded. You're currently sitting on your boyfriend's lap because the car is small. "And we still have to study for our finals, too..."

"Todoroki, can you help me with my English later?" Izuku asked. 

Todoroki nodded. "Sure."

"This so lame!" Katsuki complained. "Why the hell does the No.1 Hero have such a small-ass car!?"

"Oh, great, the brat isn't happy with his free ride!!" The driver shouts aggressively. "Endeavor, since when did you start letting ungrateful children like him ride with you!?"

"Ever since I found myself at the top." The pro hero answered. 

"Zounds! I guess it's true that success changes a man!"

What the heck is zounds? Just then, the car is attacked by white lines. As the driver skillfully avoided the attack, everyone in the car notices Natsu covered by the lines swinging in the air. The car crashes and Endeavor blasts out to confront the villain, Ending, who is controlling the white lines. Ending asks the hero if he remembers him, and Endeavor responds by saying he apprehended the villain seven years ago. Hearing the Flame Hero remember him made the villain react in a gleeful way. Ending continues that he admired Endeavor for always having everything he could never get. He says he doesn't have anything left to protect, and that he wants Endeavor to kill him. He knows that heroes aren't supposed to kill at all, however, he points out that Endeavor killed the Nomu, and that he considers him to be the same as it, so should just burn him with ease. You, Katsuki, Todoroki, and Izuku bust your way out of the car, as the driver sends out your hero equipment which Izuku throws to you and the supplemental class duo. Ending uses his white lines to attack, but the four of you skillfully dodge them. Then, he sends nearby cars with people into the air and held Natsu in front of a moving train. Seeing all this, you remembered your training back at Endeavor's hero Agency. 

🌻The day before the invitation to the Todoroki household🌻:

You're in the gym with Burnin, trying to figure out how to increase your speed with your flames. So far, you didn't achieve anything.

"Dammit...All!" You gasped through breathes.

"Why don't we take a break and cool off." Burnin gives you a bottle of water. "Don't wanna burn all your oxygen away!"

With your water bottle in your hand, you sat on the bench. You recalled that Quirk assessment test Mr. Aizawa made you and your classmates do on the first day of school. You beat Iida in the 50-meter dash by milliseconds, but that's only because you readied your flames and your breathing beforehand. If you hadn't done that, you probably wouldn't have gotten a good score. Your Quirk isn't like Iida's Engine, so you can't reach top speed without taking a moment to focus on your breathing and concentrate where you want your flames to burst from.

"Oh, Himawari!" 

You see Katsuki, Izuku and Todoroki enter the gym from the corner of your eye. "Hey, guys..."

"What are you doing here with Burnin?" Todoroki asked.

"Trying to figure out how to boost my speed."

"Nothing's changed at all!" Burnin laughed out. "But she did make some weird faces while doing some hand signs!"

"Huh!? Were the faces I was making really that weird!?"

"Ha! Weird is an understatement, sweetheart!"

"Hand signs?" Katsuki asked. 

"Uh, yeah. I can also control flames using hand signs. That's how I did some of my ultimate moves." You lifted your arm and did the Iai-Hand sword. "I thought I could also use hand signs to boost my speed, but the only thing I managed to do is make stupid faces, almost give myself a concussion..." You grabbed the Special Abilities Liberation Front book from your bag. "...and this damn book Hawks gave me isn't giving me any ideas!" You threw the book across the gym and sighed heavily, defeated.

"How... did you almost give yourself a concussion?" Todoroki asked. 

"I did this hand sign." You did the sign of the horns with both hands. "When I used this hand sign while using my flames through my feet, I... think I made an explosion and I almost flew straight into the dumbells."

"What!?" Izuku exclaimed. 

"Why the hell are you so calm about that!?" Katsuki shouts.

"Don't worry, I saved this sweetheart before her skull and the equipment made contact!" Burnin said while passing by the trio to exit the gym. "I'm gonna go hit the showers!"

"Anyway, I've also been thinking what Endeavor told me." You explained to the three boys. "He said to understand every difference between my Fire&Water, his Hellfire, and Todoroki's Half-Cold Half-Hot."

"Now that you mention it, your Quirks have a few similarities, but your power is mostly the same as Todoroki's." Izuku analyzed. "Both of your Quirks involves fire and water, but Todoroki can only bring out one element from each side. You can control fire and water, but you can't turn water into ice. There's also the fact that your Quirk is powered by the oxygen and moisture in your body."

"I already figured all that out, but thanks." You stared down at your water bottle. "I can create water and fire from my own body and bend it to my will. I also have the option of controlling any existing flames and water that's close by. Plus, thanks to my Quirk, I can't get burned. I can't control ice, but I can revert ice to it's original state. I also learned how to heal injuries using water. My Quirk can also be affected by my mental state and emotional state. Which explains why I had trouble controlling water in the beginning..." You sighed. "I already understand every difference. I don't know how to use that storing power method to go any faster. My Quirk isn't as strong as Mom's, but..."

"Are you stupid?" Your boyfriend asked, making you all look at him. "You should know by now that you're Quirk is way stronger than your mom's and that bastard's!"

"Bakugou's right." Todoroki agreed. "I think that's what my father was trying to make you realize."

"It's true that you can't use ice, manipulate the earth, and control air and other elements, but you're able to perform powerful moves with your Quirk!" Izuku praised. "Your Quirk can help during a flood, easily put out fires, prevent dams from bursting, there are so many ways your Quirk can help people!"

The praise you heard from your friends and boyfriend slowly lifted your mood. Thanks to their positive words, you made use of the corna hand sign and remembered one hand sign you haven't tried yet...

🌻Present day🌻:

The Tora Hishigi. It's a hand sign where you place your thumb across the palm of your hand and then touching the base of your thumb with your index finger. You can use this hand sign to direct focus and power of your flames to your feet. Using the Tora Hishigi Kata, you went straight towards Ending with immense speed, speed that puts Iida's Recipro Burst to shame. You kicked the villain in the gut with a powerful flaming kick. This move sends the villain flying and makes him let go of Natsu. Luckily, Todoroki traps Ending in ice and Katsuki uses his power to blast fast enough to grab and save Natsu. At the same time, Izuku jumps into the air and successfully unleashes Blackwhip to grab all the cars. Izuku lets the cars down safely. Endeavor runs up to Katsuki and Natsu, hugging them both and asking if they're hury, before Katsuki slips free.

"Where'd that white line bastard go!?" Katsuki asked. 

"I kicked him using my Rapid, and Todoroki apprehended him." You point at your half-and-half friend, who is standing next to an unconscious Ending.

"Hey, dumbass!" Katsuki called out to Izuku. "How are the extras!?"

"If you mean the kind people in the cars, then, yeah!" Izuku yells back. "They're alright!!" He glances down at his hands and smiles. "It's our total victory!!"

"Shut the hell up!!"

Izuku yelped at his rival's words. "Why!? It's the truth!?"

Katsuki turns to Endeavor with a smug grin. "Hey, No.1! Remind me what you said again!? "This winter, I want you to show me that you can eliminate a villian faster than I can"!!"

"Ah, yeah..." Endeavor replied with his back still facing your boyfriend. "You four were incredible..." The pro hero's response wiped the gloating look off Katsuki's face and he continues. "You all covered... for my mistake... without wasting a single second...!"

"Suddenly the bastard gets all sincere and crap...!? At least be a little pissed off!"

"Isn't beating a villian faster than Endeavor satisfying enough, Blasty?" You asked your partner. You looked at the pro hero and wondered why Endeavor hesitated to save his family. Your question is answered after Natsu breaks free from his father's embrace.

"Natsuo!" Endeavor speaks to his son. "I'm sorry...!! For a split second, I thought to myself... that if I had saved you there... there was a chance... that you might never... say a word to me ever again."

"What?" Natsuo stared at his father dumbfounded, and Endeavor kept talking.

"Natsuo... it's okay if you don't believe me...! But it's never been my intention... to shut any of you out to my life. However... what I did do was run away from my responsibilities. Away from Toya... and of course, away from the fact that I killed him."

"You weren't trying to shut us out?" Natsuo fires back. "So what...? Ever since that day, I've been hearing Toya's voice in my head." He starts to tear up. "There will never come a time... where I can ever forgive you. I'm not as kind as Shoto is."

"...Even so. Even so... you came out today for Fuyumi and Rei's sake, right? You know that girl has always looked up to the idea of a "family". It's because... I destroyed our own. But after seeing your sister restlessly try to go back and start a new... you've also been trying your hardest to consider her feelings, haven't you? You're also a kind person. So that's why... it's alright if you never forgive me. It's not like I want your forgiveness. I just want to make up for everything I've done."

"...Stop saying such reasonable things..." Natsuo's voice breaks and he cries. "All of a sudden...! Y'know, Fuyumi just seemed so happy back then...! But... every time I see your face... I just can't help but remember. Why do I have to be the one to make an active effort to change!? You say you want to make up... but what do you think you can do now!?"

"There's one thing I've been thinking."

At that moment, Endeavor regains consciousness. He immediately breaks down in tears over seeing Endeavor in his calm state, and that the brilliant light he believed in is gone. The police then arrive to take Ending away, noting that his Quirk was boosted by a drug. Natsuo walks up to you, Katsuki, Izuku, and Todoroki. 

"Thank you, umm..." Natsuo said to your boyfriend. "What's your hero name?"

"It's just Bakugou, right?" Izuku asked. 

"Wrong, nerd." Katsuki answered.

Izuku's eyes lit up. "Huh? You decided on a hero name?! Tell me!"

"I ain't telling you, and I ain't ever gonna tell you!! Go fall in a hole and die!!"

"How about me?" Shoto Todoroki asked. 

"You can go die in a hole, too!! There's someone else I've gotta tell first!!"

"Himawari, do you know Kacchan's hero name?" Izuku asked. 

You shrugged. "Nope. I'm being kept in the dark, too."

"Yagi." Endeavor called out, beckoning you to come closer to him.

You ran up to the pro hero and his driver. "What's up?"

"...I..." The flame Hero hesitated. "I owe you an apology... for what I said to you during the sports festival. It was wrong of me to disrespect you the way I did."

You were speechless. The pro hero is showing you how genuinely sorry he is. You know that Endeavor is trying to be a better person, but you were still surprised. You didn't expect him to apologize to you. After a minute of staring at each other, you took a deep breath and sighed. 

"I accept your apology. Just think before saying something like that to someone..." You crossed your arms. "I'm not going to hold a grudge against you because of your disrespectful comment."

After all, Todoroki have every right to not forgive his dad because of the abuse he suffered and his mom for pouring boiling water on his face, but he chose to forgive his mother and put his grudge against Endeavor to grow as his own hero. Endeavor then sends the four of you back to UA. You heard the rest from Shoto a few days later. He said Endeavor has decided to build another house for him, his siblings, and his mother while his father will be staying in their first home. Alone. This must be Endeavor's way of giving his family the space they need. After making such a decision, will Endeavor stay unforgiven by his family?
