There was a very small village on a hilltop area, surrounded by mountains, rivers and forest. It was located in an ancient historical place of 'Mokukchung' district. There lived a very few people in this very place, they were blessed with water resources, cattles and vegetations everywhere.
On this very place, there was a river that flows from up above the mountain. The name of this river was 'Kuwakhu' river. This was the only source of water for the people of this land.
This river was very narrow and its water was clear like crystal. The people of this village believed the river was a gift from their mother-nature. All the people used to bathe into this river and believe it washes them and keeps them away from unfortunate events.
There was a young girl named 'Tuhili', she used to live in this village with her father who was a farmer. Her mother died when she was a child.
Tuhili's father used to earn their living by farming. This time his farming was not producing good crops. They used to manage their survival with the crops they had. Tuhili was not much help to her father in farming as she was skinny and unhealthy. She was unprofessional for this farming work.
After her mother's death she had no one to take much care of her on her childhood days. Her father was always engaged in farming and had no proper time for her.
She was raised with her two dear friends whose names were 'Nabina' and 'Diara'. They were all of the same age. Out of them only Tuhili was skinny whereas Nabina was chubby and Diara had an average female figure.
Tuhili was the innocent of all and was humble and kind in nature. They used to go to kuwakhu river everyday and bathe inside it for not more than an hour. They used to enjoy themselves together. But one day, a weird thing happened to her.
It was one sunny day when Tuhili and her friends again went to that very river for bathing. Soon after an hour, her friends left for home as the hour was growing late while she stayed a bit longer as she was enjoying the breeze with the splash of water on her body.
A moment later she decided to go back home and while she started to get off from the river she spotted a glittery stone figured inside the river. She picked it up and she saw that it was a necklace with shiny stones on it.
The stones were bright and beautiful and its brightness was growing as she took it more close to her. They were thousands of years old and contained some magical power within. Tuhuli was unknown of its power and the darkness that it contained within. Innocent of all, she wore it around her neck and found herself very beautiful with it.
A moment later, the glittery stones turned themselves into some regular stones to disguise themselves from its true nature. Tuhili was ignorant of the stones' behavior and took it home anyway. On the way, she decided not to tell her father anything about the nature of the stones as he would sell it to any merchant. Rather she told him that she decorated herself with these stones who she found near the river.
In the next morning, she woke up and found that the size of the stones got slightly bigger than it was before and so could feel her body in more health and more energized. She was no longer skinny anymore but quite a healthy girl. It was very weird for her to understand this madness. She was wondering if people would think of something evil possessed her if she revealed the magical stones to them, so she kept the stones silent and away from everyone.
She now understands the stones are the reason for her better and improved health. She became very attentive to it. She took the stones back to the river to wash it and clean it. When she approached the river and dipped the stones inside the water, they started to glow and this time it came out of the water and came close to her. The stones were murmuring these words;
"Keep us close to your heart,
and we shall offer you an endless life,
throw us away and you shall die"
She was obsessed with its power and ignorant of the consequences, she wore it back around her neck and the stones again turned into the same regular stones.
