Chapter Twenty Five: Journey In The Gutter

Throwing themselves upon the ground before the flying beasts could catch them in their razor sharp talons; The griffins, spreading their immense wings, lifted their faces to the sky, and shrieked furiously.

"Knights, beware of their talons! If they catch a hold of you, they will never let go", Toru yelled, wielding his javelin.

Running ahead of his leader, Avery shouted raising his shield towards the griffins: "Javelin throw!"

Flaming javelins emitted from his shield and one of them, struck a griffin through its heart; Filling the air with its screams of terror.

The other creatures had swooped and evaded the fierce attack, and hurled themselves towards the knights; The beasts engulfed in fiery embers.

Boru and Halu both jumped aside and missed getting struck, but Toru with his shield, took the impact of two griffins striking his shield at once, and fell back onto the ground.

The mighty leader of our four heroes, swiftly summoned a tidal wave, and drowned the griffins before they could finish him off.

Both of them already dead, were slammed to the ground by the immense wave.

"Boulder smash!" Avery created a gigantic rock to crush underneath it, the remaining creatures; Roaring in pain, and then lying still, under the boulder's heavy weight.

"That was an intense battle!" He said, running back to his companions.

The Prince looked down at the dead Griffin which he had pierced through with his magic javelin; Its feathers rustling in the wind from its stiff body.

"One in which you did not heed me once again", Toru answered, frowning at him, and placing his hands on his hips.

"You have placed our leader to the brink of death", said Halu, looking frustratedly at the Prince.

"Forgive me, Master Toru. I have let my rash behavior take over me", Avery replied apologetically, and bowing. I am worried for the Princess and my kingdom."

"We will not remain to rescue them if you do not concede to my orders. Be well reminded, that you took the oath of Knighthood under my leadership."

"My sincerest apologies sir."

"Very well. Let us continue our quest. Here, it does not appear to be day or night, but whatever time frame we posses, let us keep moving and seek an answer", answered Toru, beginning to walk ahead of the others.
