Chapter 3

Years 500 BC - 44 BC

Naruto traveled around the world except for North America and Asia going from place to place buying things going out of business learning how a country worked as well as it's military structure to it's politics but he did these things by never revealing his true face or clothes because he didn't want the world to know that he existed there were rumors about him but those were 500 years old so they didn't place much hope that he'd still be alive or active even if he was alive.

Time moved on as the years went by Naruto began to lose interest in the humans and their selfish ways any good that he saw was quickly erased by the vile things that he saw them do the ones that he trusted the least were the nobility and the politicians especially when it came to women they were even worse than the men sometimes it didn't matter though because he finally found a few places where he thinks that he can enjoy what humanity has to offer these places are:

Russia

Romania

Italy

France

The home of the vikings

He doesn't go to these places he just keeps traveling until he goes to everyone of them except Italy he gets there during the year 100 BC the year Julius Caesar was born he dresses into their clothing and makes himself a noble from a mid level house that was almost exterminated he's the only survivor he takes on the guise of a kid who's 3 years old the ruling class takes care of him until he's old enough to study what they know he is a bit of a slow learner when it comes to book learning but after letting him read the material they came to find that he learns faster when not being rushed also he was a prodigy in combat training the best they have ever seen even for a 7 year old.

Years pass Naruto and Caesar are in the same military academy as well as boot camp they both pass then get sent to different legions they rise through the ranks over the years While Caesar becomes a leader of Gaul Naruto becomes a captain of several legions the higher ups have tried promoting him several times but he keeps refusing them he even refused a province from them just bought a bunch of businesses that were failing then turned them around while getting trust worthy owners who would split 30% of the profits with him they agreed immediately he became really rich before his term was up but one day he gets a letter that he's been summoned to Gaul.

He goes to Gaul while leaving his most trusted commander in charge of his troops while he went alone when he got there he found blue men with what looks like a golden eagle he followed them to their camp waited for nightfall put poison in their food and drink barrels then killed them while they slept then grabbed their loot as well as the eagle also he found some roman legionares in their camp as well as food jewels gold them and the eagle as well as letters from someone in Rome he takes those as well then takes everything to Caesar's camp upon seeing the wagons everyone was confused then they saw Naruto and everything made sense.

As he rode through the camp he could see that some of them were losing hope also some were starving then he says to one who looks like an officer get me your quartermaster right away then take me to your leader the quartermaster comes out Naruto shows him the food and water he brought as well as the money his eyes light up with hope then says thanks this will last us for 2 years Naruto nods then walks inside the tent with a huge bag standing in the room was Mark Anthony next to him sitting at his desk is Caesar Naruto bows to them then says i've found something interesting that i think that you guys might wanna see he opens the bag he pulls out their standard then a smaller bag with the letters that he gives to Anthony who checks the bag then gives it to Caesar.

Caesar reads each letter as he's doing so he can't believe that his friends in the senate have started this war to remove him as a senator and keep him from amassing power against them at first he thought that the letters were forged but each stroke of the pen gives away the writing habits that could only come from them he gives Anthony a letter after he's finished with one who also can't believe what he's reading that the past 20 years have been a set up by them Naruto lets them finish the letters then process everything before he asks why am i here.

The two men look at him with puzzled expressions until Naruto gives them a letter he was given before coming to this camp when they read it they recognize the handwriting as Pompey's after that they check Naruto's service record and both are shocked that he's gotten more citations for honor and valor than any other soldier also he's got a major temper they tell him that he's most likely been tricked and that his men are either been taken from him or killed Naruto says that even if Rome herself gave the order to betray me they never would and i made a copy of the letter then gave it to every commander in my army just in case they try to lie saying i'm a traitor by being here.

Both men are impressed that he thought that far ahead then asks if he would consider joining forces with them Naruto says i might entertain it but only if you play this smart if you idiots get complacent and get killed i'm leaving Rome and never returning unless i have business here other than that i won't set foot in Rome ever again she can burn both of them looked at Naruto with horrified expressions he smirks at them then says it doesn't matter if i save it or destroy it the fate of your home is ultimately up to you 2 i only stayed here after you nobles massacred my family for their wealth and power so i could see them all choke on their own blood.

Caesar frowns after hearing that he remembers Naruto's family or as he's known to them as Arno Frye he has black hair brown eyes Jacob Frye's build with Arno Dorian's hair and face he know's very well about the scandal of the marriage of the heir of house Dorian and the heiress of house Frye the reason why it was a scandal is because those 2 families didn't get along at first until after the marriage because Arno's mother was pregnant when they got married after he was born everyone came around especially after his sister was born but 2 years later everyone but Arno was killed because he was away at a friends house everyone else is dead except his baby sister who is being kept hostage by the ruling class in case her brother steps out of line.

Caesar says you can't afford to do anything against them they have your sister Arno laughs and says i know she sent me a letter during my first campaign i could tell that they made her write it i could also tell that she wrote it in code telling me which group has her it seems that old proverb i heard on the battlefield is true "The Fool Hunts For Misfortune" Mark Anthony who has been quiet up till now asks what do you mean by that Arno says with an evil grin that send a shiver down their spines the same fools who set up the stolen standard and this invasion into Gaul are the ones behind my families demise.

Anthony asks what are you going to do once you get a hold of them Arno says the words haven't been invented yet for the amount of suffering that they will go through i won't kill them death is too good for them it would only bring a swift end to their punishment they don't deserve a clean quick merciful death Caesar says maybe so but you can't just walk in there and kill them these men are protected by their wealth and power it will take time and planning Arno says your way requires you to look them in the eyes while you betray them i'm not a backstabbing 2 faced asslicking money grubbing politician.

Anthony busts out laughing and can't stop laughing it's so bad that he's holding his sides while Caesar is scowling at what he heard about his profession before he became a soldier he was proud to be one until he heard the crude colorful but somewhat accurate description of politicians at least today they are not when he was in his youth anyway Anthony stops laughing then says man we gotta keep you around you are funny and you certainly make things interesting Arno sighs then says after i get my revenge i'm leaving Rome and not returning unless summoned by members of my family.

They can agree with that they start to consider making plans when everyone outside starts freaking out about dignitaries from Rome showing up Arno stays hidden but Anthony goes out to see who it is and it's an envoy from Marcus Crassus he brings a message for Caesar who wants a reply right away Anthony takes him to Caesar the envoy gives the scroll to Caesar then opens it and reads:

Dear Caesar,

I am writing this letter to you first hoping that you are well secondly i hope that you can help me out one more time for old times sake thirdly i know the forces plotting behind your back make you feel betrayed and blood sicken from all of the death war has shown you but just know that you still have friends in Rome you can always count me among them also other than helping me with this task i need your help i need you to track someone down for me his name is Arno Frye he should be in the military by now i just hope that he's still alive after all of the suicide campaigns that they put him through as for the favor that i mentioned before i'd like you to have Arno agree to let his sister marry my son she's quite taken with him and i'm afraid that once the engagement goes public in a week he will kill my son even with my wealth i won't be able to stop him

Caesar begins writing his reply to the letter then as he's writing he asks how long as this been going on i need to know so i can inform her brother the envoy sighs then says for the past 5 years she's 22 now she's of marrying age her brother can't stop her from getting married with a obnoxious prideful snobbish sneer Anthony laughs like the envoy just told the world's best joke then says it's not about her getting married that's the issue the issue is whether or not she was manipulated into doing it in the first place the envoy says no one would do that Anthony laughs again then says of course they would happens all the time for the right price you can almost make a person do anything even kill someone they've never met before difference is that the military is up front about what you're signing up for with rich people you can never tell what they're really thinking or what their real agenda is until it's too late.

Caesar hands the envoy his reply then says i'll talk to him but i agree with Anthony if his sister has been forced into this engagement we won't stop him from killing your master we'll help him and if she's been tricked into doing it we'll sit back and watch the show Arno enters the tent looks at the envoy then says my men will be here in 3 days if what they're implying is true all of Italy will be nothing but ashes when i get done with it everyone in the tent pales when they hear that statement and are wondering how he will pull it off the envoy says that his master saved her and after some time they fell in love Arno can immediately tell that something is fishy with that story so he exits the tent goes to the woods makes clones of himself to check on every person of wealth and power in Rome including Marcus Crassus then pees goes back into the tent.

He informs them that he's sent his best men to spy on everyone of wealth and power in Italy and he should know something in a few months this shocked everyone there but now they know how he won every campaign he's ever won he spied on the enemy Mark Anthony however just laughed and asked why didn't we team up with you a long time ago it would have made conquering this region a lot easier Arno says that's because i was assigned everywhere else surrounding this country they assigned you guys the easy part while i had to kill their allies Caesar nods in confirmation at that as even he had to admit that if their allies had helped them then they would have lost this campaign the envoy leaves along with his body guards.

Once they were sure everyone was gone Caesar asks Arno when will your men really get here Arno smirks and says they should be here by tomorrow by the earliest i also lied about where i was assigned in truth i did do that mission but only after one of my regiments said that they couldn't do it by themselves as for where i was actually assigned i was put in Sparta Mark Anthony asks why would they put you there Arno says to eliminate the Persians it was a long brutal bloody campaign but it had to be done and i helped an old friend from being killed so he could save his kingdom but he lost 3,000 men that said as soon as i got him home he was immediately insulted and attacked by his politicians who did nothing but side with the enemy as well as give them the exact location where he would be so they could have his wife and daughter to themselves.

It never happened because on his order i killed all of them either by poison or killed them in their sleep by making it look like their guards did it i only did that to the traitors to his rule nobody else and what are you guys going to do about your traitors Mark Anthony says i honestly don't know yet other than see what's changed idk Arno says i figured as much here's what you're going to do Anthony you're going to Egypt to marry Cleopatra and rule Egypt she's one of the most beautiful women in the world and from my reports other than women she's a virgin give me a minute and i'll be back Arno goes back to his horse grabs his bags comes back to the tent then hands one to Caesar and the other to Anthony.

Arno says in these bags is everything you both will need to know to achieve your goals for you Caesar it's everything your competitors have been up to since you met them up to today for you Anthony it's everything about Egypt you could need to know their:

culture

history

geography

religion

agriculture

military tactics/weapons

politics

I suggest you both do your homework before you two go into battle and in case you're wondering what's going to happen to your men 1 legion is going with Anthony 1 legion is going with Caesar and the rest of the army is coming with me they both look at him in shock Caesar asks what are you going to do with 200,000 men even after we've taken our men with us Arno says conquer all of Europe Anthony and Caesar drop their bags in shock then look at him like he's mad and ask can you even do that Arno says with all of your men yes but it won't be easy and i'll have to whip your men into shape to survive this campaign but it can be done which means that you'll have to put me in charge as soon as possible then only take with you guys only the ones that wanna leave.

Caesar calls all of his men including those he's hidden throughout Italy who come running it takes a few days but after that there's with 10 legions worth of men present including Arno's men there's 1 million men in the camp everyone is wondering what's going on but that all changes when Mark Anthony Caesar and Arno walk in front of their men making everyone shut up immediately then Caesar says to all those who have come i thank you but i have grim news it turns out that the politicians we trusted with our lives have sent all of us to die so that they could have our land or our wives Arno hands each man proof of what Caesar is saying papers showing how much their land is worth or what happened to their wives after they left for war.

Everyone is pissed off except Arno's men who were orphans and Titus Pullo who never had a home because he was a slave although his friend Lucius Vorenus is pissed because his wife had a kid with another man 2 years after he left because Rome wouldn't mail his letters Caesar says not to worry my friends the 3 of us have been talking and we've been come up with a plan to deal with this issue the plan is i will go to Rome Anthony will go to Egypt and Arno will stay here with a good amount of men to fulfill Rome's ultimate ambition Titus Pullo raises his hand Anthony says yes soldier Pullo says sorry for interrupting but what is Rome's ambition and surely we won't be able to do it even with the 3 best generals Rome has to offer leading us.

Arno chuckles loud enough for every soldier to hear then says not only will we succeed but we will see places that you lot could only imagine in your wildest dreams also this ambition is easier than what they originally wanted which was to conquer the world but some of their advisors said that Europe would be enough Pullo asks if you are leading this campaign can i serve under you i'd much rather go to several countries than be stuck in one for the rest of my life every general laughed at that then Arno says yes but just so you guys know before you sign up with me that there will be no gambling drinking drugs complaining or raping any women because make no mistake once we leave this country we'll be constantly in danger now there's nothing wrong with playing dice or cards but no playing for money you should save your money for buying information and only drink to get information also no brothels those places will be what kills you faster than the battlefield.

Anthony asks what do you mean by that statement even Caesar was intrigued by what he meant Arno sighs then asks how have you two lived as long as you have by being this oblivious to this fact whores act as spies or assassins for the highest bidder it doesn't matter who pays them or if you fuck them or not you'll still die some are professionals they're not even whores just there to looking the part to take out their target which can happen a number of ways poison blade put you to sleep drugs so just avoid them and make sure that you always check your wine glasses or bottles in the future even sealed they can still be poisoned when opened don't drink it right away let it breathe for an hour then set it out in sun for another hour as well as dump the bottle out then use it to cook with instead of drinking it then prepare a huge feast with the wine but buy a the same bottle of wine from a dealer you trust then host a dinner party with all of your enemies then only eat the fruit cheese bread smaller meats and a special dish just for you then have your men pour everyone a drink as soon as the food is brought out make sure to show them the bottle after everyone has drunk the wine and eaten.

Anthony and Caesar as well as every soldier there couldn't believe what they just heard but Caesar couldn't fault his ingenuity and cunning but something was nagging at him he asks how will i know which bottle has been poisoned Arno sighs then says there will be a small hole in the lid or it will have a strange smell that wine shouldn't have everyone nods Anthony asks who wants to go with him to Egypt a bunch of men raise their hands they leave the same amount go with Caesar to Rome now Arno puts his men through hell making them start from scratch in their training making everyone earn their rank he busted everyone except his own men back down to cadets.

in 1 year of training these soldiers have finally learned what true pain is though they aren't equal to Arno's troops they're halfway there he taught them various things :

swordsmanship

hunting

reading

writing

read a map

how to follow the stars

how to live off the land 

medicine

hand to hand combat

mend their armor

forge weapons

how to use a boat / navigate on the ocean

how to manage their money 

about the other countries

In another 6 years they completed Rome's goal after that the 13th legion returned to Rome along with Arno the rest settled down across Europe including his own men on his left is Lucius Vorenus on his right is Titus Pullo they have been with him for 7 years going on 8 he's never lead them wrong in as long as they've known their commander so when they got a summons to return to Rome they can't help finding the timing a bit suspicious regardless they walk through the gates and everyone seems on edge as well as in a festive mood they're wondering what has been going on since they've been gone they go straight to senate building not even stopping for anything once they get there he says Pullo Vorenus with me the rest of you wait here they put a fist to their chests then say yes sir.

Arno walks inside the senate chamber with Vorenus and Pullo by his side they walk to the side then just hang back as they are having a meeting when everyone was talking about Caesar and Anthony the senators say i can't believe that our plan worked now we separated our 3 biggest headaches we've killed Caesar though somehow Anthony somehow has conquered Egypt and married Cleopatra thus making his rule legitimate we somehow either need to over throw him kill him or get Arno to do it for us he's very good at doing the impossible one of the senators says that will be impossible if he finds out that we sold his sister to Crassus to keep him out of our business and that she was killed 3 years ago during child birth because we poisoned her food and drink.

Pullo and Vorenus were doing everything they could to restrain their friend and commander from killing every person in this chamber once he calmed down then walked into the center of senate meeting everyone flinched because he wasn't supposed to be here for another year Arno says i really didn't wanna come back to this cesspool of a city but my men deserve to come home and enjoy their lives after being away almost 20 years just know that i heard everything and i'll give you idiots one warning and one only leave my men alone as well as Mark Anthony i've instructed him to never interfere with Rome's interests or return to Rome as long he does that he should be fine with Egypt besides that continent is huge even if he wanted to conquer something it would take him 100 years to conquer Africa.

They ask what makes you so sure he will listen to you Arno smirks and says the same reason you're going to i've got more men than both of you do to call upon if that's all i'm leaving if anyone stops me i'll cut them to ribbons i've been in the military for 30 years i'm done serving Rome if anyone calls me a traitor or tries to pull some bullshit scheme because of their fragile egos then pull it now i know that you cowards killed Caesar by treachery and by attacking him when he was by himself i'm sorely disappointed in you Brutus he had such high hopes that you would rule Rome once he took power everyone was shocked to hear this including Brutus who asks how do you know this Arno walks up to his row then hands him a letter with his name on it Brutus he opens it:

Dear Brutus,

If you're reading this i'm already dead most likely at your hands which is fine but this also means that my friend is going to kill you then abandon his men after that he will go into exile for not being there to save me as well as not doing more to prepare me for what i was walking into i have no regrets except that making my friend have to kill you he really hates killing even though Rome forced him to if he finds out about his sister keep him away from the senate building or he may destroy it if what i fear has come to pass and Arno has given this to you in the senate building then try to keep him calm as that's what his two friends down there are doing but probably failing at doing also if explain why you made your choices he should understand as long as you had nothing to do with his family he'll let you live but no one else try to survive and pray for a quick death

Brutus finished the letter rolled it up put it up in his clothes then looked Arno in the eyes then says each choice i made was about survival but i'm only 30 years old your family was dead when i was born Arno says i already knew that but your family as well as everyone else's in this room has taken their properties and i've been keeping track of each of your movements since i've been gone which is why you really should have been paying better attention to the paper work because everything you guys own now belongs to my benefactor he's the one who taught me everything i know in turn i taught my men what he taught me the only thing he didn't have time to teach me was gladiator combat so that's what i'll do next until i become the best in all of Italy.

After that him and his men leave he walks outside gives each man their retirement then says you're all free to do whatever you want but don't blow this on booze gambling or whores become actual citizens who contribute to society also never travel alone travel in pairs they nod after that he he leaves Rome gets out of sight so no one can see him then makes a whole bunch of clones disguised gives them a map of a country tells them to develop it but no war or drugs unless its for medicine also make sure to not get noticed just be average don't fight anyone unless you have to they nod he sends one to every continent and country except North America Asia Australia after that he makes another clone disguises it as Arno Frye sends it to the worst place a gladiator can fight then shunshins as far as he can away from civilization.

He lands in the desert which is fine with him but he wants somewhere man won't ever go so looks at a map then smirks as he shunshins to the the Arctic Circle he finds that he doesn't have the clothes for this so he opens his scroll then after breaking his henge it takes him a minute to adjust to his real body but he's glad to be using it again so he puts on his orange blue and fur jacket with a hood it also comes with thick orange pants with furs wrapped along them and around the waist finally snow boots with orange tiger stripes with fur on them after getting dressed he scours the area for a few hours finds a cave in the side of a mountain that goes nowhere he smirks then uses earth jutsu to make the cave bigger as well as give it multiple tunnels that he puts various traps in each one including the one he will be living in but not until he makes a path that leads outside that also goes underground.

He made a house for himself out of rock ice fire and water he made a stream so he'd have water he used seals so it wouldn't freeze or be found as well as his tunnel to his house he put a barrier a genjutsu over the tunnel to make people live their worst fears as well as tap into their sexual fantasies then turn it against them into something that will haunt them also he used ice jutsu to close the pathway to his house so no one would even know it was there then had a clone booby trap the big tunnel so no one could get in even if they wanted to he put a treasure chest at the back of the middle tunnel nothing but pits of death in every other including his tunnel.

After he got everything set up he decided it was time he stopped slacking off on his training the first thing he does is take off his clothes puts on some fur shorts walks outside to the coldest part with no shoes no shirt then begins to meditate until he gets used to the cold he doesn't channel his chakra at all until he starts feeling like it might be dangerous but even then he only does it for a few minutes then gets right back at it until he can master the cold without using his chakra each day he wants to give up but he doesn't this is the hardest thing he's ever done it's also his punishment for allowing himself to get too involved with the Earth's problems he should have left them alone instead he got involved in their wars and their politics he makes a vow that he will never get involved with humans again unless he's forced to.
