The Kiss Of Deception

The devil doesn't come dressed in a red cape and pointy horns. He comes as everything you've ever wished for.  Callum Facci hasn't always had it easy, but that's never stopped him from working hard for the life he wants. From the bastard son of a traitor to the candidate for the next prime minister, he had come a long way.  Just as he thought he would be the youngest prime minister of the country after winning the coming election in two months, a piece of news leaked out.  Apparently, the current Prime minister of the country was found dead with his balls crushed beyond recognition in his residence.  Callum's wish of becoming the next prime minister was soon replaced by another dire wish; to catch the murder of PM Joseph -- Duchess of Orin, Calliope Wilding. At eighteen she was married off to a wealthy older man by her titled father. At nineteen, she lost her father. And at twenty, she lost her husband.  As if she couldn't be more cursed, Calliope Wilding is on run for more than a year now.  Her only wish-- to get her knight in shining armour.  Her wish came true.  Her knight appears not in shining armour but a black suit.  Then again, the devil also comes as everything you've ever wished for. And Callum Facci, the man with the face of an angel and demeanour that of a saint, is nothing but a devil appeared as a knight had come to drag her back to the fiery pits of hell.  But who had ever left unscathed from the sweet and sinful seduction of the devil? Especially the one with the face of an angel and the body of a knight?  ...... Doesn't know them

"The sun doesn't rise from the west today," Mary remarked like a bitch she usually wasn't. " I wonder how Calli decided to grace her with her illuminating presence today."

Calliope sighed again and took a step ahead to walk to Mary. She knew Mary didn't like her. And why would she? She didn't do anything to make anyone like her with her non-social attitude. Since forty per cent of her earnings went straight to the shelter fund, they didn't complain.

Still, she was too exhausted to reply to anyone's dislike for her. You see, everyone had their perceptions. If someone didn't like her, she couldn't do anything to make them like her.

"Good morning, Mary, "Calliope greeted politely.

You guys could be bitchy to me, I wouldn't forget my manners. This was Calliope's attitude. Treat her anyway, she would always treat the other person with kindness because she felt like it was beneath her to loathe anyone.

 It was too...exhausting…

She had better things in life than disliking someone or making them like her.

"I expect you to be in the hall room in thirty minutes," Mary cut to the chase. She didn't have time to spare for Calliope.  "We have some dignitaries coming today. All the preparations are done for their welcome. The government has launched some schemes for the welfare of women and children. And the officials will be visiting the shelter. Along with officials, some noble wives would be here..."

No one could understand how the world of nobles worked other than Calliope. Those noble wives must be coming here to smile at the camera and tell the world how humanitarian they were.

When all they wanted was some good publicity, a beautiful picture with poor and needy women in their million-dollar outfits.

Hypocrite bitches…

"Sure," Calliope said, clenching her fists. "But may I ask why I should be there? The shelter supports three hundred women." What she wanted to say was that it didn't matter if one attended whatever ceremony they were holding.

Mary huffed, clearly vexed by her attitude. "Did you forget about the painting you put for auction a few weeks ago? It was sold for one Million, Calli. It is a huge amount of money. And you know who bought the painting?"

Yes, Calliope said in her heart.

Callum Facci.

The proud owner of the darkest eyes she had ever seen.

Also, the man looked like an angel but she knew he could put the devil to shame.

The man she wouldn't like to come across anytime soon because he made her weak and uncomfortable with his polite and kind demeanour.

Men were supposed to be like her father, her dead husband or the monster she killed.

Callum Facci had to be a mirage.

Kind men like him didn't exist in real life.

His warm coat when she was shivering in the cold was the biggest kindness she had ever received from a man. But for some reason, she wanted to erase that moment from her memory.

"That's why you need to mingle with people," Mary said, quite irritated by the fact that she didn't know who Callum Facci was. "Have you ever heard about Santiago Vitello?" And Calliope looked at her in confusion. Mary clutched her heart as if she couldn't handle what she was seeing. "Killian Palmero? Nash De Luca?"

Who are these people? Calliope wanted to question but she was afraid that Mary would beat her with the broom. Thus, she shut her mouth.

Santiago Vitello sounds a bit familiar.

Was he some celebrity?

She truly didn't know these men.

"You know what, Calli?! I'm done with you!" Mary said. "I expect you to be in the hall room thirty minutes from now."

Ah, Mary and her orders. Of course, she had to follow them as Mary liked to involve Father Francis when it came to her.

One day, she was going to use those forbidden curse words for Mary if she didn't stop dragging her to social events.

"Why are you in low spirits?" Liana questioned as soon as she entered her room. She had cleaned Calliope's room and arranged all the paintings in sequences.

"I think I made Mary mad again," Calliope answered softly.

"Oh?" Liana said as if it wasn't a big deal. "What did you do this time?"

"She asked me a few questions and I didn't know the answers to them," Calliope replied with a sigh. "Some people she was asking me about and I have no idea who they were."

"Who?" Liana inquired, taking a sip of water.

"Someone named Santiago Vitello," Calliope sighed out and Liana spat water in her face.

"Calli, how can someone not know him!!" Liana shook her and demanded. "This is insane! "

"Well, who is he?" Calliope asked her with furrowed brows. "And who is Callum Facci?"

Liana looked at her as if she couldn't deal with this woman.

"You know what, Calli?! We are done here. I can't handle eccentric Calli for more than thirty minutes. Either you are too innocent or you are the queen of pretending."

....

Author Note; Calliope is Devastatingly innocent. As a fan of Villain, I can feel the pain of Liana and Mary. How can someone not know Santiago Vitello?

If you don't know them too then pick up The Villain what are you even looking for?
