Since it came time for Tobias to take on his role as king, Tabitha had been hearing this threat often that the kingdom wouldn't have a future king because Tobias was likely to run away and leave them without a clue as to who would be the next king.
They had allowed him to go off to fight in the war so he could do what he wanted for a short time and then return to do his duty. Tobias returned still not wanting to be inside the palace and repeating the same threat.
